Boredom is actually a feeling, Proglin. Like there's something missing, or something you'd wish to do but can't. Well I'm too lazy to get a dictionary for it, but that's what I think. It can exist, just like crying, happiness, etc. can exist.

You know, I have found many interests in PS, alot of things are often overlooked when someone is whining that they are bored.
For example, I have a few player sponsored quests that I do for newbies, they can earn a pair of daggers instead of begging for a weapon or trias, Sometimes I run around the sewers healing people, if you learn to talk to NPC's there is alot you can learn about PS.
I love to PvP even though its aggravating as hell and sometimes I will find a partner to spar with.
Now, if your'e a lazy typer your'e going to get bored pretty fast in PS. Suno, I don't know where you got the idea you were ignored in the Shadows RP, Satayne acknowledged Xidus and when he heard Xidus was a nuetral party in the battle, there wasn't much left. Sat also met Mitaki once when he was new and was ignored by him so I guess it works both ways.
I'm sure it was just chat that was missed, anyways...the only reason some characters seem to be more the focus of roleplay is because they interact with roleplay scenarios. When Satayne was new to Yliakum noone held my or his hand and guided him to and through roleplays. You have to seek it out. This game is what you make of it. I have often set quests for myself as well. Maybe I set a goal of obtaining 6 trepor hearts for myself or set a goal to help acclimate a newbie or give them a tour. Have you ever thought about teaching a roleplaying class? There are so many possibilities if one is creative.

I know similar reactions on Rilar's "popularity" (i hate that word)

I agree, I dislike the word myself.

@ThomPhoenix:  :'( I am sowwies. Gah ... I did it again. *Zorbels is put in the corner for a time out*
@Drey: Thanks Drey *Gives drey a huge chocolate chip cookie*

Zorbels, a lot of those things did happen.

:) Yes I am sure it does as nothing in life is perfect. Believe it or not I have had alot of rolepalys I have tried fail. The key is to learn from your mistakes and what you are doing that you could be doing better. For example .... take a look at what is going on around you when you start a roleplay. If there are huge events already going on, you might want to wait till Yliakum quiets down as your story might not be the focus of attention. Don't pick and choose favorite players to take the major role's ... save a few of the important roles for new comers or people you don't normally play with. Always be willing to bend and change your story and accept anyone into your roleplay. This includes enemies ... and it spices it up. If people are not into your roleplays ask what it is you can do to improve it. Nine times out of ten it isn't the people who are ignoring you, it is something YOU might be doing to drive them away. It is all to easy to blame others, but very difficult to look in the mirror and see that the faults in the roleplays might be caused by you and in some cases you alone.

I find it's quite easy to get bored while in PS. When there's hardly anyone on, and everyone that is on is snobbing your character or making it impossable for them to be in the same room/area (Harlohim recently has been snobbed out of several things recently) and you end up walking around. You try to talk to people but the're not interrested. Your character doesn't believe in PvP and mining is a bore.

so what's left?

gathering mushrooms while reading wikipedia and hoping one of your friends comes online, or a person that can stand the boredom of mining gold will stop by and start talking to you.

I don't think it's as simple as learning to roleplay, my characters are allways themselves (even the one I started but didn't really enjoy too much). I've found that many people jump to a conclusion of "she isn't in a guild, so she must be a n00b" while totally missing the beer mug and full leather armour (which takes a person a while to get unless the're a really good beggar) and not thinking that she may not be in a guild by choice (have had a fair few offers, though turned them all down)

Snob is a bit too harsh, I suppose the problem is that people tend to be busy at the same time.

Believe me if you have played long enough you come to know who is a newbie and who is not. You can just tell by the text and the way they handle their character. I myself have never assumed that a person must be a newbie because they are not in a guild. I went rogue for awhile from my guild. I enjoyed my time alone but missed them dearly and rejoined with them.

:) Vialick if you ever are bored and want to roleplay and I am avalible I would more than love to. I find it keeps my interest in PS to meet new people and create stories with them. See you around Yliakum.

Indeed. Such as one would never be foolish enough to think of Verrliit as a noob. She has probably had offers from almost every guild, including mine, all of which have been turned down. I judge noobishness by the way the person plays, how they act, if they use proper ooc/ic dividing with brackets for ooc...

I do wish it were allways that way. I mean it's nice that people try to help those that they assume to be n00bs, though I've found that after a few times of having people trying to give you rat parts and telling you to sell them to merchants that it gets a tad offensive.

believe me, I do intend to take you up on that offer.

Oh, and I do believe I may not have worded my inital post very well. I generally don't find it boring, but it is quite easy to get bored, especially when it's quiet, and everyone who's on is just wanting to level up or do who knows what...

So many different characters, and each one of them I'm just bored with.
:( What a pity that we all are only average players, compared to your expectations... :(

But we are not a community of story authors and theater actors only.

I believe Suno was talking about being bored with his alts.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

And people giving you rat parts telling you where to sell them because you are not in a guild is a bit... umm i can't find a word for it but maybe they are bein the noobs XD.

The mushroom thing sortta started as a hobby...but with almost 80 in her bag, harlohim's somewhat proud (well, after her recent psychotic episode I'm not sure how she views her fungi-friends...but they do still remain on sale)
