My money is on France aswell.

And Helm, you have to understand that... well... I mean sure, every team fakes, and every ref makes a bad call but this World cup has been terrible in such a way that there are tons of fakes and tons of bad calls.

And every country does have it's own little reputation, which is almost always well deserved.  I don't know England's, because I'm English and don't listen to anything bad said about them :P.  But Italy and Portugal are both very known for faking.  France, for instance, is known for complaining (and great football), Spain dabbles in both, German used to be known for overly rough football.

Portugal did great in Euro, but it was on their own ground and there was alot of controversy over most of their games.  Portugal is doing very well in the World Cup but, the England - Portugal game was a terrible game.  There were many fakes by both teams, Portugal just made more...and worse ones.  (And Ronaldo looks like a brat :P)

yes i must admit as much as i like the french tey do complain a little to much but i kinda feel bad for them cause all the refs they have had have been so bad. like the handball in the switzerland game and the one shot that that SK goalie got the ball in the goal. but i do agree that soccer is getting less and less fun to watch cause very few times you will see a game were they play the game and dont fowl all the time.

Waylander, I have no problem in people saying that the Portuguese team fakes a little bit too much. It's ok, it's a stereotype, bad, but I can't fight it because they do... What made me mad in the previous posts of other people is the fact that they are taking away all credit Portugal deserves. And I find that very unfair. People should be a bit more "sporty" and be happy with everyone! :)

And as far as I remember, there was no such thing as contorversy in the Euro, except the huge problems we had with the Spanish supporters after they lost the game...  ;D But I was in my home country back then, so I got a parcial view out of it. :)

To tell you the truth, we have no very strong stereotype on football teams, except that Germany was playing very bad these last years, although they were extremly good years ago, and that the Italians fake a lot and sometimes the referie is a bit too much their friend... ;) Everyone here likes every team. You have to see we are a friendly country out here that loves football, no matter the nacionality of the said team. :)

And yes, Ronaldo looks like a brat, but he IS a brat. He is very young. But, contra the girls all over the world, I don't find the portuguese players either mature or pretty... :P I preffer a good german or a good swedish! LOL

Spotting you!

You miss the point Helm. I don't see how though seeing as you state it yourself right at the start of your post.
<Rux> i wish i could say that narrows it down, but the internet is one freaky place

People always complain about the referee when their favorite team loses. Of course there have been made quite a few clear mistakes, but most of the matches so far had adequate referees. Also, the refs were much worse the previous WC, so at least there is progression.

i think the refs give tooooooo many pointless red cards.
and this whole thread is why i live soccer... people get so defensive when someone bashes their home team. ;D hehe.  i think the refs should carry around pocket PC's that atomatically gets the replays sent to them instantly but then that might make the game boring.  just a thought.
but i do think that england should have won if only rooney chilled out a bit.  they didnt need beckham to win.(he is way overrated by the way.  dont get me wrong there he is very good but hes not the best)
in my opinion the top 5 players are as follows.
1  Ronaldihno
2  Henry
3  c. ronaldo
4  maybe ronaldo/ figo/ or even zidane(zidanes looked good schooling all those brazilians on saturday \\o//)
5  and thennn beckham

i might be missing a few but plz dont get mad at me :-[

If you're talking of the players during the WC, you should remove Ronaldinho he did not do his best with Brazil. He could play much better with the Barca.

I think this "obese" thing is quite exagerated. People here in Brazil have all kind of jokes to that.  :D

But he was in the field against France. But I think I agree with you, "playing" would be a whole other thing than he did.

And to other posts: yes, Ronaldinho can play much better than he did. Wait! What am I saying? Brazil could have played much better!  X-/
