What's happened to this community?
« on: June 18, 2006, 02:10:14 am »
Hi there!

I did a couple of models for PS a couple of years ago.  I don't know if anything came of them, because I put them up on Laanx Wheel of Wishes, which has disappeared.  That's a real shame.  There doesn't seem to be much coherence to the PS community.

Also, I think it seems a little sad that in an unfinished open source game, there are more posts in the Guild creation forum than in the fan art forum. Bah! Humbug...

Anyhow, is there actually a place where people can submit their art, other than here?  Forums are good for discussion, but not as a record of what art has been made.

I really enjoy helping this kind of project, even in just a small way.  I'd be more than happy to work on a sucessor to Laanx Wheel of Wishes, if there is nothing like it already.  If there is something like it already, then I'm not going to do that, because everyone should get behind one way of doing things and make it work, but if there is nothing, then I would love to do it.

If you want to make art for PS, you can join the PS team as a prospect, if you just want to make fanart visit the fan art forum or ps-mc.

Hiya walkingbeard! And a welcome back :}

The Laanx Well of Wishes somehow vanished off into the pages of history, and we do not currently have anything like it. Its return, or the start of a similar project, would be welcomed. I cannot recall if josePhoenix ever wanted to pick it up as a part of PS-MC, but maybe you can contact him about it and see whether he had any ideas. As it stands now, models made public will not be used officially - this may change with time, but no one can make any guarantees.

I'd say that we're getting better. If this one thing has disappeared due to a lack of maintenance, it can't represent the entire community as a whole.

We're having 2 active projects in the Fan-Art thread, Community Modelling Project and Klyro's City Project. Most of the artists might be occupied with these projects. Klyro's City Project and CMP are always looking for new members. We're pretty quiet cause we're working. Just remember to update the section daily. I've currently got 3 concepts unscanned.

Join one of these projects or apply for dev-team.

A website dedicated to PS artwork has also been discussed somewhat recently. Of course this requires the community to make it happen. I agree that PS needs a place where it can accumulate a wealth of good art. You would be amazed at the great art that has vanished into the hundreds of pages of the fanart section.

That's mostly because Gentar is now on the team, and the work he does will be included in releases :}

The same reason why we don't get a new Planeshifty, and instead get new visible armor in game.
