Unique items
« on: January 21, 2003, 10:38:25 pm »
Here\'s some unique items that can only be recived by winning a tournament, slay a unique monster, or as a reward by your guild for doing something good:P

Dagger of Illusion- The dagger of illusion is a very powerful item that will create 6 mirror-images of the wearer. This fools the foe who becomes confused and don\'t know whom to fight.
When the foe hits an image it will disappear and another one replaces the old one.
The effect lasts for 10 secs (Item recharges by itself and won\'t drain MP)

Arthagath- Arthagath is a two-handed blade forged by a black mage and is made of some kind of unknown black metal.
If a good-hearted person wields this sword it will curse him. his status will become \"evil\" until a powerful magician releases him from his \"burden\".
However it\'s not certain that he chooses to remove the blade. Perhaps the good character chooses to become greedy...and he becomes evil permanently.
If he really WILL Become evil, he can remove the blade if he wish.
If an evil character grips the blade his HP/MP/END will increase and his STA/CHA will decrease as long as he wields the blade.
If somebody gets hit by the blade he will have a 20% chance of being poisoned, he will loose neary all his stamina, and will recive \"blackness\" (meaning that you cannot see very well) It gives a bonus agains good creatures.

If an evil character tries to do something good, the sword will hurt him, or even destroy him (and the next good player picks it up and recives the curse)

Imnia- The \"opposite\" to Arthagath! A blade forged by elfs. It\'s completely useless for evil players. It will increase the wielders STA/CHA (but it wont affect your HP/MP/END) and it will increase the characters ability to heal. If an evil player gets hit by Imnia he will have a 20% chance of being paralyzed.
If a good character does something evil, the sword will become useless for some time and cannot be touched by that player for a long time.

I like the idea of Arthagath and Imina, but the one about illusions seems like it might be difficult to implement into a game. This is the kind of perks to choosing between good & evil, that really makes the differance in the game.

Its slightly off topic but the idea of good and evil swords made me think mabey mages should choose (good or evil spell sets) based on clan and prefrences!

Or perhaps, since there are no real classes and only skills, the characters will become affiliated with certain elements and predisposed to others, making their spell choice (still a choice) better to choose what they are good at.

Sorry, It was late and I had just played \"Freedom force\" so I was thinking about \"Deja v?\" (a boss in the game who use his powers to create copys of himself).
Now when I think about it I don\'t like the \"dagger of illusion\" item either ;)

I have some more \"unique items\" for the developers (and you forum-members of course) to judge.

Artoms Lyre- Once upon a time there was a Lemur called Artom. He was a very ugly lemur and nobody really cared about him.
He was very lonely, but he were always happy and that was something the other Lemurs didn\'t understand.
-Why are you always so happy? one of the Lemurs asked him one day. You are so ugly and nobody really want to share your company.
Artom smiled like he always did.
-The most important thing for me is that our god Laanx loves me, he said.
-If he loves you so much, then why did he gave you that ugly look?
-I\'m rather ugly on the outside and good on the inside, than have a beautiful outside and a black heart, he said.

Just a few days later Artom were walking outside the villiage, lonely as he always was.
Suddenly he saw the disfigured face of Laanx on a rock.
-Look in the water Artom, it said.
Artom did as the god said and Laanx face appeared in the water.
The god didn\'t say a word, but on the rock in front of Artom, were a lyre made of pure silver with strings made of gold.
The god disappeared and Artom picked up the lure. He  walked back to his villiage.
He hid the lyre in his house and didn\'t dare to play at daytime.
Every night, the villiagers could hear the beautiful music from the lyre. However they couldn\'t understand who were playing.
The music were soothing, and all the villiagers fell asleep when the music began to play. It was also healing, and all the diseases that the villiagers had in the evening, were gone in the morning.
One day the villiage were attacked by animals. The lemurs tried to defend themselfes but the animals were too many, and the lemurs were too few.
All of a sudden both the lemurs and the animals heard a beautiful song. The animals fell asleep on the ground where they stood, and so did the lemurs.
When the villiagers and the animals were all asleep, Artom put down his lyre.
After a while they all woke up again, but the lemurs realized that they couldn\'t draw their weapons, but to their surprise it wasn\'t needed.
The animals just slouched away back into the forest without even touching the lemurs.
When the surprised villiagers turned around to face their saviour, they saw a beautiful woman stand there.
They asked to know her name and she answered \"Artom\".
When Artom had proved that he was good on the inside, Laanx made him beautiful on the outside as well.

The villiagers fell on their knees and begged Artom to become the leader of their villiage, but Artom smiled just like she always did, and walked away from the villiage. Nobody ever saw either her, or the beautiful lyre again. However the legend say that Artom found her home on the top of a hight mountain where she spent three weeks before she joined the other gods.
The lyre however, is still there...
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Artoms lyre can only be used by \"very good\" people. If an evil person tries to pick up the lure he will burn his hands.
When you pick up the lure your clothing will automatically become \"white robe\".
You cannot wear any weapons when you have the lyre.

The lyre improves your characters charisma, and it will also make your music-skill become very high.
When you play the lyre, every monster/player in the area will fall asleep. When they wake up the monsters will have their attack-mode disabled for 3 minutes and will just walk away.
Players who\'ll hear the music cannot draw their weapon for three minutes, but the player who plays on the lyre cannot hurt anybody either.
