But seriously, from what I hear, most "incidents" occur during the few hours I sleep. The problem is, I'm not online then to moderate and I don't know/know of anyone that can moderate the channel during those times. Usually if a conversation looks like it might go downhill fast, I op someone else before I leave.

People never mention the good stuff, it's always hours of discussion about crashes ;]

People already scream bloody murder at moderators "limiting free speech" on the forums I can't imagine what reactions Jose may get if he tries to toughen up, though he should ;P

I'm all for free speech, but when people start ganging up on a single individual in attempt to make them suffer, then they've crossed a line and they need to be shut down.

I've seen crap happen under your watch.  You stop it most of the time, but there have been times where you've let stuff fly when I thought you should have done something to stop it.

Agreed.  This used to happen all the time on the forums back when sep & co. were around and was only encouraged by Mogura...it was pretty pitiful.  I don't know the state of IRC at the moment (I haven't visited since the first channel really, when there was about 10 people at its peak), but hopefully the type of thing you're describing doesn't happen too often or it really is bad.
