[guild] Wrath of Azure
« on: July 04, 2006, 07:41:34 pm »
We are a new and peaceful guild in the world of Yliakum and our name is the Wrath of Azure i will post our history and my background and will be posting our ranks and what that rank will do for the guild very soon:

Gharan Limitte

Let it be told that when three dwarves, who were life long friends, went out
hunting for Ulbers, their lives and others would be changed forever. It
started as a typically normal day for the 3 hunters in their home, Hydlaa.
Grabbing up their weapons and cheerfully waving to their families, they took
the same path as they always did in order to bring home fresh Ulber meat
for their clan. They were looking forward to the day's outting and
anticipating the thrill of the hunt. Gharan, Goulde and Gonric had hunted
many times together and everything had always gone pretty much the same
way as before. But not that day. The powers that be had something
entirely different in mind for the three men. You see, Gharan was known
throughout the land for his great talent in the art of healing. It was said
that he could ressurect a man gone 6 days to the Death Realm. So great
was his skill. Today, he would need every ounce of it for himself.
The day grew long and dark before the men were satisfied with their kill.
They knew the Clan would be joyous with their return and wanted to get
back, soon. Loading their hides they walked along home to Hydlaa.

Suddenly, from the dark lurched an angry, screaming Ulber. Drooling and
hissing it's murderous intent, the hideous monster aimed it's wrath on poor
Goulde who was completely caught off guard. But before the devil could
reach it's mark, Gharan selflessly flung himself in front of his good friend in
order to save his life. And in doing so, Gharan lost his own. Gonric quickly
killed the Ulber, but it was too late for Gharan. Their friend was gone.
In shock, Gonric and Goulde stared at their friend. It had happened so fast
that it was hard for them to comprehend what had just seen. But before
they could react to what had befallen them, a strange thing began to occur.
Gharan, who was clearly dead, started to glow.
Gharan, who was clearly dead, had started to glow with un earthly, light.

"What is this strange thing?" whispered Goulde into the night.
The glow grew brighter still, until the path where they stood, was enveloped
with a beautiful, ethereal light. As Gharan's eyes fluttered open, the two friends gasped in surprise and delight. Their friend was alive!

As Goulde and Gondric quickly knelt down to their companion, Gharan muttered softly, "I had a vision".
"What??" both Gondric and Goulde chimed together.
"I had a vision!". said Gharan, his voice sounding stronger with every word. Sitting up Gharan looked changed. More purposeful and resolute.
" We must learn the Crystal Way . I was told that if we do this, and promote peace throughout the land, that Laanx will be restored to her former health and beauty and will then reunite with Talad, her beloved. Everything will be as it was, once before".
Standing up, Gharan walked shakily over to a rock and sat down. Running his calloused hand over his pale face, he began to feel stronger.
"Will you help me, dear friends? For I will need all you have to give."
" Of course we will help you, Gharan," answered Goulde. "You saved my life
and I will never be able to repay you for this."
"I believe your vision Gharan, and will travel the ends of the earth to
accomplish this goal." said Gonric. Gharan smiled. He had known he could
count on his friends. With tears in his eyes he said "Then we have work to
do.Let's go."
And with that, Gharan and his friends Goulde and Gonric started the Guild,
Wrath of Azure. Their goals were simple. To search for the Hydlaa Glyph
while spreading the word of the Crystal's Way. Our Crytals higher power
would then look in favor of restoring Laanx's mind and beauty. In doing so,
Laanx would reunite with her beloved Talad and all would be as it once was.
Peace and prosperity would reign for all races and all religious beliefs.
It is important to note that no matter what your religious beliefs are, The
Wrath of Azure provides a strong foundation for spiritual and physical
conditioning. We believe that to become all that you can be, you need skills
from every side of the spectrum.

My Characters Background

Born in the East of Hydlaa were i have resided all my life.My mother worked as a cook slaving away most hours of the day and my father was a miner under the great Llanx Temple.I would sit as a child listening to his amazing stories of the many dangers of mining, stories of thieving and creatures entering the mines.

Little did i know what would happen on one beautiful day in yliakum.

It was early i had finished having breakfast with my family my father was getting ready for his walk to work and my mother was getting ready to take me to oja to buy the cheaper wood for the fire as all the money my parents had went into the house.
We all set off together laughing and joking and we suddenly heard screams coming from the plaza as we drew closer my father realised it was an ulbernaut who had made his way into town.
The town was panicking and screaming and that was only aggrevating the ulber more.My mother grabbed me and my father and started to drag us both back but my father let go and shouted at my mother saying "run Gharan to safety im going to round some men up and were going to kill this"
It had never happened before,An ulber in hydlaa?
My father ran around frantically asking men and women to gather there weapons while the ulber ran around trying to swing at anything within reach.
The men and women of Hydlaa gathered round the statue were the deadly ulber had perched him self,A very dominant shout rang out across Hydlaa "CCCHHHAAARRRGGGEE"
Dozens of weapons started piercing through the ulbers skin but the ulber started swinging frantically,It was commotion, this was never meant to happen.
The ulber suddenly fell to the floor in a heap from deadly blows to the heart then people turned round to see many wounded people one being my father.
My mother ran over to him frantically only to find that he wasnt breathing and had taken a serious blow to the head.
The people all joined in using the power of crystal to help all the seriously injured but it sadly was too late to help my father.

I vowed to my mother that from that day forward i would ensure it would never happen again and that i would be mastering the way of crystal and the art of the sword.

I enlisted in weapons training and started visiting levrus on a regular basic to ask him about the crystal way and the mighty energy glyph.
I quickly developed in the way of the sword and starting using my life infusion to heal rats.I quickly excelled at it and moved up to clackers. At the age of 18 i met a man named Goulde who shared my interest with the great energy glyph and we quickly became friends. It was not long until i learned he also thrived for peace in our land so we set about creating a guild. One day we were walking through hydlaa and came across Gondric he was stood arguing with a known criminal telling him of his displeasure of how he did not care for the people and stole from them.Me and Goulde instantly had the same idea and asked Gondric to come for a drink in the tavern.Gondric was happy to and we spent hours chatting about how great it would be if we could stop the wars and all the nasty things that happen in this world.Gondric was happy to join our guild and because of his great way with words and his strength he was given alot of power.

(im still writing this but thought i would include it)

(ill add more very shortly)

Thankyou for your help with this Gisera

Just to clear up a few things:

We train crystal way for the use of the energy glyph to help us and others.
We still learn all the others but we believe only the higher god would have the knowledge and power to use the Azure crystal to restore Llanx to her former beauty
We encourage our members to train everything and help them in anyway
We will be engaging in Yliakums politics
The name wrath of azure is based on what the azure did to Llanx when Talad created the Krans

I hope that clears a few things up \\o//

I have to admit that I haven't read your story but seeing that you have a background to your guild and character fills me with joy .. ok maybe not that much but yeah it's a good sign ;)

One little thingy though ... you start out with "We are a peaceful guild ..." and your name is Wrath of Azure. It's just a detail but when I hear the word Wrath I think of violence, vengeance, ... in short, more or less the opposite of peaceful.

Quote
wrath - from the dictionary:

   1. Forceful, often vindictive anger. See Synonyms at anger.
   2.   1. Punishment or vengeance as a manifestation of anger.
         2. Divine retribution for sin.

Of course since I didn't read your history I don't know if your name has any type of origin ... just noticed that it doesn't really represent what you say your guild stands for.

In response Zan it was the azure which disfigured llanx when talad created the krans, hence the name
but i understand were your coming from with "wrath" but this is simply the power we believe the azure to have in the wrong hands

i hope that clears it up for you zan?

Ah ... if you explain it that way it does make a lot more sense, yes. Guess I should have read the entire post before commenting huh :P

[i also didn't read the history yet, just skimmed it, but it looks good at a glance...  Gharan Goulde & Gonric?-- could this possibly be the guild formerly known as 'Knights of Yliakkum'? --if so the story, history and goals lookto be quite improved.]

Yes anne it is, we thought we would use our brains and come up with a guild which has purpose and ambitions and we hope a GM approves.
We were going to use voduls name in it but we were told this would be (ooc) as officially we dont know he exists :) :woot:

As I have been asked to state my opinion on this matter I will do it.

1. The name should be OK. I can't think of any porn actor, capital city or whatever in RL that could be referenced.
Although I don't know why it is "Azure" and not "Crystal" if your goal is to promote the crystal way.. Could be that I missed that point in the introduction (btw, more line breaks would have increased the readability)

2. From the introduction coming it doesn't become clear why that

Gharan, who was clearly dead, had started to glow with un earthly, light.
happens. It looks a bit constructed this way, but should be fine for a start :)

3. I would also recommend to leave Vodul out if possible. Those things indeed are more or less OOC knowledge, or at least only known by a few people if at all.
* Kerol quotes a secret official ressource
Quote
Where is Vodul? (can he be contacted? personality? what is he striving for?)

Vodul is a major God, also called Dryken, there are many other Dryken like him, they never interfere with Yliakum. Laanx and Talad have access to them rarely.

4. I think it's a good story and idea as foundation so far, but I think you need to put more thought into how to achieve the long-term (and probably never achievable) goal to unify Laanx and Talad again, as it sounds too much as a background for PLing, which would be a pitty with such an RP background :)
You could try to contact other religious groupings and organisations that are more in trading or politics, in order to achieve your goal. My advice is to give the organisation, diplomacy and active involvement in politics a high priority. At least higher than training magic and melee.

hmm well think the idea behind this is very good. A background is always a nice adition to a guild, but not to be brute but I do see a few things I find strange

The name seems awfully strange for a guild bent on healing. Even with you explanation I don't think it fits. Wrath of Azure would seem like you are seeking vengance FOR Azure, but infact you are studying crystal not the azure way. Wouldn't know why youu would want to take vengance on Azure either but anyhow the name doesn't seem to fit with the story I think.

Ulber hunters and a father who's job it is to mine under the temple? Ulbers are extremely hard too kill so why would anyone go and hunt them for meat when tefusang and such are a lot easier? The way an ulber is slain in your story I don't think is to realistic. Sounds a bit to much like the "I'm a god" complex some people seem to have.

The whole vision thing is just strange. Who send it? Talad? And why do you need to study crystal? ou are already a master in it aren't you? You're already able to resurect people what I haven't seen anyone do ever. I mean if you are that good you most likely already reached whats humanly possible and you seem to say you need to study as if it's something new to you.

Anyhow as I said don't want to flame or something but feel there a little bit more humble as a story and a little more thought to what is possible in Planeshift would make the story a lot more credible.

BTW my name is gondric it got spelt wrong alot.
(my history)

I was born in Akaiko, Because my mother travelled there with my father. i grew up there and learnt how to use a sword from trasok, The only man to sell wepons in my area. When i was 16 i travelled to Hydlaa to get a job as a Blacksmiths asistant. Luckily Harnquist was in need of a new assistant and i got my first job with him. He taught me how to craft fine swords which i still carry with me today. When i was eighteen i was walking to harnquists and i witnessed a murder in an alleyway. The criminal ran off when i saw him and i went over to try and help the man but he was already dead. Then a dwarf walked by and saw me. I was convicted of the murder and was banished from hydlaa. I was left alone in the forest luckily they gave me one of my swords that i made at harnquists forge. I lived in the Forest for 10 years and had to kill animals for food. One day i stumbled apon a strange looking house, i went inside and found a man sitting in a chair. He casted a spell on me and i was knocked out. When i awoke i found myself in a basement with the door locked. I waited around for an hour and then the man came in. i asked him what his name was and he said it was levrus. Then i asked him why he casted a spell on me and he said he thought i was going to rob me. He said i looked like a comon thief. I went over to look in the mirror and he was right. He asked me what i was doing so far out and i said that i was banished for a crime i didnt commit. He asked me how this happened and i explained to him how. He said he could get me back into hydlaa next time he went to get some supplies and i accepted his offer. i was hiding in a wagon and he was pulling it with his horse. when we got to the gates he explained he needed the wagon to get supplies and the guards searched the wagon luckily hydlaa doesnt recruit the birghtest people and they didnt bother to look under the blanket i was under. When we got inside i got out and thanked him for his help and vanished into the back alleys. Then i saw the murderer and i grabbed him and threatened to kill him if he did not confess to the crime. He did and i was a free Dwarf again. After a few days i wandered over to hanquist and asked him if he remembered me and he did. He gave me two finely crafted swords and i thanked him for them. A year or so later i saw a thief robbed a fenki of her money i ran over to him a tackle him to the ground and got the money back and started yelling at him. Then two dwarves came over and asked if i would like to go to the tavern to get a drink with them and i accepted. i gave the money to the fenki kicked the thief in the guts and walked to the tavern with them.  we spent hours chatting about how great it would be if we could stop the wars and all the nasty things that happen in this world.Gondric was happy to join our guild and because of his great way with words and his strength he was given alot of power.

Gharan can u edit it so my name is gondric not gonrik lol.

(edit) fixed it myself

I just wanted to congratulate Gondric on the correct spelling of his name.

When I read this thread I couldn't help thinking that "gonric" sounded like the name of some sort of nasty infection.

I expected to hear it used in contexts like:

"I really must see the healer about my gonric", or
"My gonric has gone and flared up again".

I expect given the relatively primitive living conditions in PS, that a bad case of gonric could be fatal.
