The Bards of Yliakum [2:00 AM GMT]
« on: July 07, 2006, 02:37:10 am »
NOTE: BoY will meet every Saturday at 2:00 AM GMT; there was a typo in the poster.

IC:

A young Enkidukai darts down the stairs of Hydlaa's town square, a large packet of papers bundled in his scruffy golden fur. Sweat glistened on his brow, but his eyes were wild with determination.

Ignoring the gawking stares of the townspeople, the youth climbs the statue of Laanx in the center of the plaza until he is balancing on the very top of its head. Clearing his throat and staring down at the crowd gathered beneath him, he begins to speak:

"Hear ye, hear ye! By the order of Lady Kaelith Kheep, Azure Wind of Yliakum, wife to Delsabor Nash, and master musician and storyteller, I hereby give you this message that — ah!"

Before he could finish, the young boy lost his footing and slipped from the statue.  He landed several feet below in the fountain with a large splash, the papers he was carrying drifting down like a parchment rainshower.  An older, rather aristocratic-looking Ynwnn paused from the walk with her husband to pick up the paper, which had caught her eye. Adjusting her monocle and squinting a bit, she read the message.

OOC:
Yes, the message is horribly done, excuse me.

That aside, let me introduce myself. My name is Jill, better known in-game as Kae'lith Kheep, a vagabond fenki.  Whilst my father was busy in my youth running round the countryside causing who-knows-what havoc, I grew up learning the ropes of being a bard from my mother.  After my not-so-pleasant teen years, and now at the ripe age of 20, I have decided to pick up my skills again and share my stories with the whole of Yliakum.

That is why I've started the Bards of Yliakum, aka myself for now.  My job is to spread the lore and myths of the world to its every day inhabitants, for entertainment and possible RP moments.  I'd like to bring everyone in one night a week for stories, poetry, and laughter, allowing for tons of role play and fun for no money whatsoever.  Every Saturday at 10:00 PM EST (I believe that's 17:00 GMT?) I will hold this event at either of the taverns in the world, either Kada-El's or The Broken Door.  Every first and third Saturday, the Bard of Yliakum will travel to Kada-El's Tavern in Hydlaa for the night.  Every second and fourth Saturday of the month will be held at The Broken Door in Ojevada.  This is to encourage the expansion of our organization and to make sure it doesn't interfere with too many other events already taking place there.

But I want you to help, too!  There's only so much I can do alone.  So if you have a story or poem you'd like me to tell, feel free to send it to me and I'll do my best to tell it.  I'll also allow a "coffeehouse" style atmosphere and allow you to come in and share your works yourself!

All in all, I hope this can get off to a good start.  The first meeting will take place this Saturday at Kada-El's.  Hope to see you there!

Please reply to this thread with story requests, suggestions, or comments.  Also, you can link me here or through private messaging if you'd like me to read yout story.  Full credit will be given to you, of course. ;)

IC:

Nurahk walks up to the fountain and grabs one of the wet pieces of paper drifting around.  He reads what is writing and shakes his head.  Perhaps the poet will be there, he thinks reading the message over again.

He walks away decided, a chance to see the poet again, and everybody knows that in a full tavern, there is atleast some information he can get his hands on.

OOC:

Very nice, It's noon for me so I should be able to be there atleast once a month.  Good job and well presented.

IC: Delsabor is strolling through the plaza when he hears his wife's name being shouted from the statue. "What in the world.." Del utters quietly. Del goes to look at the paper dropped into the fountain intrigued, totally ignoring the Menki laying the the water, befuddled. This seems very intersting, shes a smart fenki, that woman...

OOC:This seems to be a really intense oppurtunity for everyone to get in on good roleplaying, something perfect for the Planeshift community. This is a really good contribution in my eyes. It lets characters share poems, and stories about their own pasts. It should provide a hell of alot of fun if people catch on and go along with it.

I say good job, and i would love to attend!  \\o//

Del, you know you'd be there, otherwise I'd be so angry I'd make sure you lost control of all your extremities for a while...and I do me all of them :innocent:

But yes, everyone please come, I need support because I'm not confident that the turnout will be too good considering I'm not exactly the most wellknown player..

Sorry to double post but I just realized I made a mistake on my time calculations; the Bards of Yliakum will meet every Saturday at 10 PM EST or 2 AM GMT. Now to change my poster... :sweatdrop:

Thanks Zhai, I'd love to have you. ^^

Well, my first story is nearly prepared. I'm planning to have this run for about a half hour to forty-five minutes, maybe with one or two stories/poems and then have enough time for others to share. It all starts tomorrow; I'm exicited!

Good to see that the bards are still around. It brings a joy to my heart that even in my leave there are musicians who continue tradition.

Well, first gathering of the BoY was a mild success. 6 People attended; yes it left alittle to be desired, but all we can do is hope for more next time. The story was a very interesting and nicely written Ynwnn tale. It was very nicely done, and the people who did attend enjoyed it. Come to the next one, which will be in two weeks on friday, because that saturday is Kaelith and My wedding.

Last saturday I jumped in for 2 minutes, took a picture and went to bed - it just was too late for me (3AM) too read all the nice text.
Maybe I will be there from time to time, because I love such roleplaying events.

PS: as I look at the screenshot right now I see, that it semms to be a Fenki-event  ;)

Thanks for that Alfonso. And yes, I noticed that quite a few Enkis came, ironic because my story was about Ynnwns XD

Hope you decide to stop in longer next time. Next meeting will take place on July 21st at 2:00 AM GMT.

UPDATE!

Turns out I can hold a meeting tomorrow. Therefore, tomorrow at the Broken Door at 2 AM GMT, please come for a nice tale or two!

I know that the Broken Door is not always busy, so that if no one shows up I'll be doing most my performances at Kada-El's. Hey, gotta go where the crowd is. ;)

Yay, my planeshift is back up and running! Is anyone actually still interested in doing this again? I've got a few stories still.
