I think attack mode changes work fine now, Ligh.
At least it's reported as an stance change in the system tab.
On a sidenote, it's not only a problem of newly created chars.
It's a problem of not trained chars. Having 0 skill means you've no chances to hit the NPC.
With .14 version I had a char that was able to kill a rat, but with .15 it always fails, no matter what stance you use.
