Grass as a wall?
« on: July 08, 2006, 04:32:08 pm »
I went through the new bdoorsout sector, and found this new grass, which looks quite nice as it is moving in the wind

A little investigation showed me that it is not like the old grass, which i can easily go through, but that it is a wall. It also affects the camera, if the grass is between you and the camera (like walls always do).
At a second (or third) look, i found out that it is a one way wall: You can only see it from one side (there is more grass than seen on the screenshot). You can also not pass it from that side, but you can go through it from the side where you do not see it.

Is this meant to be the way it is? Should that little bit of grass stop me? And is new Yliakan grass invisible from one side?

Grass should not stop anybody from moving, unless it was ment as a barrier preventing from falling from the edge of the world ;). Probably designer forgot to turn off collision detection for the grass. I think You can report it as a bug.

All polygons of meshes are always visible only from one side, collisions are also detected on one ("main") side of polygons. If designer wants grass to be visible from both sides, he must duplicate all faces of mesh representing it and flip the direction which they are facing (flip normals).
