I have a ghrapics error here (Screenshot)
« on: July 08, 2006, 10:08:03 pm »

I zoomed-out to show more of it.
It's just not textured... If it's far, far away it textures, but if i get close it goes black and transparent...

I think more people is having that problem, at least, I recall Aradia describing me something that I imagined as the picture you're attaching.

Those not textured zones... if you go there... you actually fall through it?
Or the map is fine, just the texture is missing in there by an unknown reason?

Try to specify which graphics card you use, and your driver version as well.

Perhaps the pc is suffering trying to render too many things...
you'd try one thing, all in ingame options

Go to graphics-details

There at first lower the fps cap from 62 (its default value) to 30. Save changes.
Look around... did that make any change?
If not, try going to the same menu, and this time, setting "adaptative distance" to a lower level.

Did this problem come with this new version? you had it also before?
How much CPU the game is taking for you? (you can use ctrl+alt+supr to know this)

Good luck.

I'm having the SAME. EXACT. PROBLEM.

It's a texture problem--You can run around all you want an not fall through, but you don't have much of an idea of where you're headed.  This problem only occurs for me OUTSIDE of the place I started.

Please, if anyone know a cure...?   (It happened for me in the last version, too.)

Well...
so nothing I suggested worked... I assume everyone's tried already changing graphic drivers...

what about using -console option when launching planeshift (attach at the very end of the shortcut route "-console" but without the quotes) I think it doesn't allow copy paste, but perhaps you see some message in there that could point out to the problem origin?

I tried all of that, but it's still doing the same thing.  Any other ideas?

You haven't pasted the output that -console would give you. Please edit your PlaneShift shortcut to include -console at the end of the target line, and either try copy&paste of the text you get, or take a few screenshots.

Yeah I'm having this problem also. It's rather annoying, though it only happens on that one area. I'm new so i have no idea what it's called but it's the same as the screenshot on the first post.

I lowered the fps caps and the adaptive distance. No change. I don't understand the console solution though...can someone put that into babytalk? lol Sorry >.<

Oh and my laptop is only a year old so it shouldn't be a problem. Specs are: Windows XP, GeForce 4, Celeron 350 Processor, 64MB video RAM, lots of free disk space, Broadband Wireless Internet connection

Could it possibly be something to do with the server? Twice now the server has not been found.

the -console option mentioned here is not a sollution. This will only give you a Debugging console so you can copy/paste what you get in here.

Go to the shortcut you are using for the game right click - properties. On the comand line used for the game add the -console option at the end of the line

Save and give it a go

Okay well I tried that, but it just ran the game like normal. There was no code or anything. I dunno if i added it wrong? The only line i could edit renamed the file not sure if thats the command line?

These are screenshots of the graphics problem:

See it loads people and creatures fine, but it just won't load the landscape. I was running towards the green areas (image 3 and 4) but it just keeps getting further away. The death zone, or whatever it's called, worked fine, as did the starting village. My graphics card is Intel (R) 82852/82855 GM/GME graphics controller and chipset. It is up to date to my knowledge.

*edit*

Okay I killed my character and went back to my home town. However, the grass are now blue blocks >.< Gah! This is annoying. When entering that same area again, the map didn't load properly on the loading screen. I'm assuming that's the problem then?

To correctly run the client with console option, please do the following:

Click on Start - Program Files - Planeshift Crystal Blue - hover the mouse over the 'Planeshift - Tech Demo' option.
Right click 'Planeshift - Tech Demo'.
Select Properties.

Now make sure the target line (ignore the other fields) reads as follows. Please note carefully the positioning of the quotation marks:

"C:\Program Files\Planeshift Crystal Blue\psclient.exe" -console

Click OK to close the window and save the changes. Now go back to 'Planeshift - Tech Demo' in the Start menu and click it as you normally would. The client should load as normal, but in addition there will be a console window running behind it with lots of text.

To copy text from the console window, go to the menu Edit and select 'Mark'. If you cannot see the Edit menu, click the small icon at the top left of the console window and you should find it.

Now you can click and drag a box over all the text inside the console window, and press Enter to copy the text to your clipboard. You can then paste it here. Alternatively do what Karyuu suggested before and make screenshots of the console window if you are unable to copy the text for any reason.

P.S. Sorry if 'Planeshift - Tech Demo' is not correct, I have a very old version. :)

lol, okay i did that, but now it's saying that the current version doesn't work with the server, or something like that.

I think I am going to re-install the game and go from there. I installed it into a different folder in my documents, and that might've messed it up, maybe. Well I'll see what happens after re-install.

Thanks for all the help so far - i'll probably be back with more problems in a few hours! >.<

*edit*

Okay after re-installing the problem persists. Here's what the console thing said :

oh sorry, I didn't want the post to be ignored though. Any ideas how I can solve this then? I just want to play the game, but this is stopping me from advancing anywhere because I can't see where I am going -_-'
