The PS dir is wherever you put it.  Standard location is c:\program files\planeshift crystal blue\

Try another drive if you have one - or another directory. In "My Documents," for example, if nothing else works.

Mm, I think there's a slight misunderstanding - where you place the .zip itself is not important. What matters is where you place the files the .zip contains.

Have you tried to extract it to another drive, as suggested? D: if you have one, or F:, etc.

Unfortunately I can't stay up any further, so I've uploaded my own copy of the patch here. Maybe something weird is up with the way Talad packaged the files, who knows. See if that changes anything :}

The only additional message I got was a no-brainer, but might cause problems for others:

"Do you want to replace the existing files?"

......uhhhhhhhhhh............YEAH! :whistling: "Yes To All" is prolly the technically correct answer...

When I 1st logged into PS I got the message "Not running the correct version of PS".  I closed PS & then downloaded the 015 patch from Talad's post.  When I 1st tried to extract the files to my PS directory, I received a message "can't extract that file another program is accessing it", paraphrasing not an exact quote.  I received this same message for numerous files in the package.  I double check to make sure I had closed PS & I had.  I tried again & still received that message.  I next re-booted my computer, then tried to extract the files again.  This worked.  I was using Winzip10 to unzip these files & I am running Windows XP Pro.  For some strange reason, eventhough I had closed PS before I tried to extract the files, Winzip thought PS was still running.  If anyone is having problems extracting these files try re-booting your computer.  It worked for me.

For some reason, PS clones a resistent instance of itself. Instead of restarting your computer, you may probably seek and destroy this instance if you have access to the process list.

*nods*

For those who run windows press alt+ctrl+del to access the task manager. Check your running processes for one called "psclient.exe". shut that down and you should be able to unzip the patch to your planeshift directory without problems. Of course restarting works as well.

I didn't think to check the task manager prior to re-booting my computer.  But, before I made my post above I did an experiment.  I started PS & at the logging screen I exited PS using the quit button.  Then I accessed the task manager & the psclient.exe program was not listed.  So for me at least the only option was to re-boot my computer.

I downloaded the patch, and tried to unzip into my ps directory, but I ran into some problems. I tried again, and by doing something (I forget what) I managed to unzip all the files without a problem... Then it said I was missing a file to open the client. I simply looked through the files of my ps dir, and found the missing file. I copied it there, and now... well I'm not sure...

extract it into the same folder you installed Planeshift into.  Most likely called "Planeshift Crystal Blue". Replace all of the files it asks, and then run the game. do NOT run the updater until you hear the okay from a mod, or dev. Checking in with IRC is a good way to moniter these things.. sometimes.. ;)
