Bit Torrent Mem Leak
« on: July 11, 2006, 07:11:34 am »
I noticed today my bit torrent from a fresh restart, start at 37 megs and proceed to crawl up and up past 280 megs of mem usage without being used, I could not even unload the process when it got past 150 megs. No wonder PS was taking so long to load. This was a new install of bit torrent right after the new update for PS came out.
Srry if this is a dead horse im kicking.

Why are you complaining about your BitTorrent program here?...

Go try μTorrent.  It's really low profile; just a single exectuable and not even the need to install.  Works very well.

Becuase dave, im sure most eveyone here who has downloaded PS has taken your advice and downloaded BT. Furthermore, this leak (in some setups, I just downloaded it at work and its not doing it) may be the cause of other issues. I did not see it fit to post it in the 'Problems after loading PS' forum becuase it is not directly tied to PS. Complaining? No no. Warning is more like it. Complaining is that blathering slop about the timeline on posting the newest update. As you well know.

I think DaveG meant "here" as in the General Discussion section. I could be wrong. Either way, this isn't directly PS-related; moved to Hydlaa Plaza.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

You can safely use official Bittorrent program, I think there's no need for offering newbies 10 different bittorrent clients, because they would get confused and die.
Just make sure you are up-to-date, so check www.bittorrent.com regularly and you'll be fine.
