EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 00415419
« on: July 12, 2006, 07:35:41 pm »
I'm currently in BDRoad2 region, fresh install of the game and installed the patch (have NOT run updater). In the middle (I think) of the region I crashed, and since have been unable to play. My account connects just fine and I can choose to log in, but before the loading screen finishes I get the error message EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 00415419.

Usually when I'm stuck in a crash loop, I can log in just long enough to /die and get around it, but this time I never even see the world past the loading screen.

What is your character's name? Maybe this is a problem that requires a GM teleport.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

It's weird.  Someone on IRC got this too, and they reinstalled and put the patch in again, and it worked.  Give it a try.  I have no clue what's going on here.  (moving the character didn't help)

@DaveG - I've tried reinstalling the game and re-patching but still no luck.

@Karyuu- Character is "Hrodvitnir Fenriz".

**EDIT**
re-installed it after a complete removal of the program and re-did the patch, and I can now log in successfully. Thank you both for the speedy response!

I am having the identical problem tonight.  I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling/patching/updating and still get the error when I log on.  I have been running very good after the update and patch so I know the install and patch are installed properly.  Any suggestions?

Have you; rebooted, deleted your Planeshift directory after doing the uninstall, then rebooted and re-installed?

I wasn't able to get it to work again until I went to control panel>add/remove programs and then removing it that way before reinstalling, patching, and updating.

I managed to reproduce this, so the fix is in a new sticky here.

You just need to delete your custom camera settings at:  c:\program files\planeshift crystal blue\data\options\camera.xml  (by default)

The reason re-installing isn't helping people is that they're not re-installing clean.  If you just re-install on top of the old stuff it'll still have the old broken file.
