Attack Bug

When attacking my character runs backward for quite a way. It occurs upon the first attack only. Usually I am hitting the 'shift + forward' to run and then' bloody' attack. It happens all the time but to different degrees (with rogues it happens most) Once with the 6pp rogue in Oja it sent me off the "end of the world".

Once I run back to continue the attack the rest of the battle is fine. It will say too 'far away to attack'

Same problem. Other bugs i've noticed are falling off the end of the world and dying if you hit the attack key too often and not being able to cast magic during duels.

I had the same "off the end of the world" bug, but it doesn't always happen when i'm attacking. Also the rats in the Hydlaa sewers seem to have multiple tails, don't move, and are always "too far away to attack" no matter how far you actually are. After attacking one, I had the off the end of the world thing. What is going on?

Update; After experimenting I have found that it will always happen if you target from a distance and attack while running...

...but the pie just gives me a sugar rush.

This seems to be experienced by quite an amount of players in game, so I added a report in the BugTracker linking to this thread.

If this is entirely a clientside issue, when that report's closed it won't mean it's already fixed , since it would require an update on the client side. Perhaps a patch will be make avaiable for all users through updater... anyway, I hope you can keep track of the state of the bug there.

Thanks Nilrem. I too have spoken to many characters who experience this problem  - even in duels. Recently, the beasties have began to fight back properly (yay) but this attack problem is still there (which has facilitated a number of trips to the DR after falling off the edge of the world...heh) Along with it...sometimes when one targets a beastie and begins the attack, a red notice appears stating 'you must target something before attacking..blah blah blah' (unsure of the exact wording) It makes slash and dash almost impossible . Hope that helps. I'll keep testing it out.  :D

Oh my out of all the bugs this has to be the only one that actually annoy's me... i find that if you target then click attack wait untill the animation has finished... then rush in for the attack usally keeps your feet on the ground... obviously you have to judge time and distance so your attack is not canceld before hand..
well to round it off make sure your start of attack animation has ended and if your charater is being pushed back release all keys asap  :D

Okay. After dueling extensively I've isolated four distinct symtoms.

1. Falling off the End of the World
2. The "slide" where you are pushed away from the opponent
3. Teleporting where your opponent (or you) disappears for a second and reappears in a different spot sometimes with the target spot in the old location.
4. Magic just doesnt work ... this is unique to dueling and as I am told you are well aware of it.

Again, the multiple key strokes of this kind of combat (slash and dash) seems to be the culprit  :detective:.

Post Script; [Please please please write some response to this thread so I know you have seen it...combat is a healthy potion of everyones gaming experience, having this resolved - to me - should be a priority  :) ]

Sorry for the double post but...I just want to ask if what I've written here is useful in any way. Iread what you wrote on Bugtracker (Dave) but, I'm not sure what that means (respectfully)  :)  Is this bug a tough one? {this bug is REALLY a bummer for everyone}

Yup. Falling off end off world, transported leaugues from point of contact, ignominious death.....what exactly is current aim for combat? Fully understand it is, as always, a work in progress.....skill in combat has seemingly been traded for high hits. Please excuse my ignorance but what is the "Zelda Windwalker" combat model. Played the first on N 64, good system that incorporated ranged well....not a complaint as much as "died doing that, let's do something else."

It is a bug and needs to be fixed. The main reason why it isn't is because it would require everybody to update their clients. We try to release new versions once every two months and it should be fixed in the next release.

Thanks for reasssurance, Bereror. Was impressed by the combat from first day fighting rats in unlit sewers. The opportunity to use timing, and a little luck, in combat gives players a feeling of involvement and control. There is little worse than a fate purely decided by the throw of a die.

Until they fix this, try just WALKING away from combat. The bug being reported happened to me a lot until I started walking. This actually kinda makes combat more challenging, for the moment...
