No one misses Link? Hope I don't get  :ban: for saying his name. ;) I would say I miss him even though I still see 'em occassionally.

Anyways, tons of old memories. If any of you got me started on being nostalgic, I could go on forever. Too bad my name isn't coming up much. For one, no one misses me and partied when I left, heh. Two, I'm older than most of these names (not Hook's), so a lot of these people may not know me. :( Meh.

I miss Dem and Moogie, too.

Zim, Xeraans, and Daikan i've not seen for quite a while...though i'm fairly certain they'll return.

Ayshe, Hart, and Kii I see on IRC all the time but I miss them a lot IG.

Kittik is kind of retired until I can think of something horrible to happen to him...

Yliakum, a really big crystal. These are the voyages of the Explorers Guild.  Its ongoing mission: to explore strange new maps, to seek out new life and new NPCs.  To boldly glitch where no one has glitched before.

Haggnah, Agara, Sedona, Leona, Leonor, Karsier, Neck... and a whole lot of others. Long list... But a thing that pleases me is that I saw a couple of "long time no see" people returning.

John (got me started on the game), Ayshe, Thorin (no one to laugh at now =P), pretty much the entire feline's lair, Sirunie (Mitaki's rival), the radiant fate guild (who's leader I kept telling to stop mass recruiting), Neeve and a few older GM's. I wish I started playing back in the times of MB, my list would be so much longer. =P A few of these people back then probably thought I was a noob.

Thanks for this thread. :-)  It was fun to remember most of those people.

Of all those, the most mystifying disappearance was Kada...  so involved and gone so suddenly.  Perhaps she got pregnant with triplets. :-)

Also, ever notice how the people who give big speeches about leaving actually always come back?  it is the people who disappear with no announcement who really stay gone...

- Venge

p.s. no announcement about my resignation should be expected.  ;-)

True ...but let's not start on theories what all could happen to make Kada leave.

I wouldn't worry about Kada..

If it were me, I'd be insulted if people said my name in a R.I.P. thread when I'm still posting...yeah?

Ah, I remember Kiern from back in the day, may he rest in peace.  It's really a shame what he did with that pasta.

I miss people like Eshin, who nobody knows :P

I've to agree that the "RIP" part of the title seems a bit harsh, but, reading through the posts made, one discovers its true intentionality. Simply, you post here the names of those people that are somehow missed, but that you have lost faith in seeing ingame again.

If someone feels his/her char name should be here, and isn't, perhaps it's because I still hold faith on seeing him/her again.
I've been away some time too, and perhaps I mention people that has returned during
this period, if I commit that mistake, sorry goes in advance.

I'll start with some names that had already been said:

Kada: Personally I never met her, but everyone talks good about her. Someone that played a bartender, and ruled the tavern
surely was worth to meet. It's as if I missed an important part of this game history, more than a feeling of missing, since we did not meet.

Agara: I think Agara had the longest buddy list ever. She kept track of who was online or wasn't better than the Laanx database itself. I recall Jekkar telling me that she was on the few that greeted him. Players that make other players more welcomed in the game are always worth it. If only for that, she is missed.

Lindrae: Once she became unactive in game, I had the chance to talk with her a bit through PM. The arrival of the new forums seems to have wiped her entirely. I expected a goodbye from Lindrae, the person. You were a nice player, and an image now comes to mind, an image I just love, for the roleplay it has, not a RP of war and fight or mighty heroicity. I like chars that are living entities. You were able to do that, Lindrae. The image I still hold of Lindrae was her looking absentmindedly to a group at the tavern, while pouring herself a mug of milk, and spilling it over the counter, then realizing what she did, and coming back to reality. That sort of RP I miss. You're missed too, Lindrae, if you ever read this, drop a word, please.

Maanar: Ilde (never Idle ;) ) a char worth it. A bartender, needed. A gentle person, also. I've been shocked to see Maanar char deleted, and gone without an official word. I know at least one person, that says that started RPing thanks to you, Maanar. I'm sure he isn't the only one. You promoted RP silently, from behind the counter. I tried as much as I could to be there and support you, even if I had not exactly the tavern type char. Your lived things from there are to make a book. The weird mixures that some clients asked for just being an example, for instance a drink that had rat poison comes to mind. You added to the world, Maanar, don't doubt it. What was in that large tube that Maanar had at his back, will remain a secret for me, forever more.

Isra: So it seems you left again? I tried to make you stay, when I spotted you on your return, and I know you had the meeting I suggested you. I thought that if you met one of (if not the best) roleplayer that can be found in game at this moment (at least imo) could help you to reconsider. Seems I was wrong. Your work with the Yliakum Job Agency was great. Your attempt to create is respected, and you had a communitary support, since it seemed that the Agency went fairly fine, and it held some really good roleplayers (Iantha comes to mind, but I still hope to see her again) that helped to create a nice ambient for the Agency. It was a great idea, and I think you had enough support as to make it work. I don't know exactly what happened, but a pitty it failed in the end.

Haggnah: Possibly not the best roleplayer in the world, yes, but what a big heart. It's always good to have nice players around, and you certainly were one of those Haggnah, you were very open to everyone, and remained loyal (I lack there a better word) when you gave your friendship. It was noticeable how you wanted the ones around you to be good Haggnah, those attitudes indeed help to create "community". I recall you with Eolius and Neck practicing sword skill at the grass field at the right of Harnquist, behind the wooden wall.

Karii: You tried to make Karii Winterwalker a misterious char. In a sense, it was. I remember how she turned to see with shiny eyes and a little smile and then go away. I also recall it was a char related with magic. I would have liked to talk about that with you, to try to share my vision about it. I recall you had to recreate the char, because it was affected by that bug (that I also suffer) that did not gain mana points despite training mental skills. You said you had to do it. There was not such a need. You had the attributes to be able to RP it all, and succeed. Our last talk was in tells, when I thought you were gone for good, and asked you so. You had to leave immediately and apologized, but would return soon... till today.

Ok, now for some that still haven't been mentioned, the order and lenght has nothing to do with a ranking or anything, just in case anyone wonders:

Chessie You had problems with the game controls, I recall. It was a funny scene to see that, but you finally got used to the mechanics. You were very eager to do things and went energetically from one place to the other. You even used the parens to denote OOC, and understood the concept finely. Your rush and electric movements were also in your sentences, it was fun to meet you, if only for a day, I think you could have become a good player in here, if only I had managed to convince enough as to stay for more time around.

Dakhar I recall this menki, with a misterious piece of paper that seemed to be a map or something. I recall we were at the top of the tavern. Unfortunately I too recall your frequent crashes. After one of those, I think I've never met you again, and it's indeed a pitty, because you seemed to have a story in mind, and surely you'd have found enough players willing to help you with it.

Elian A male dermorian. I recall you joined Defenders, one of it last recruitments before it almost banished. We shared some conversations about the game itself, that were interesting, and I think profitable for both, where we shared sincere opinions about the most varied range of topics.

Krizzya: Another one day only meeting. Despite being only that short, it was a nice one. You had come here as a new player, but you had an evident background with this type of games. You had style playing, and seemed a nice person, cheerful. It makes me sad to see those valuable players only last for a day, and leaves me wondering if I could have done something else to make them stay. I would have loved to have had the chance to play with and learn from you.

Psi: A nice new player. I think you had a female ynnwn model, do not recall what race you were. It was good to see you use the parens for OOC talk as soon as I informed you about it, and it was a pleasant surprise to see you really involved into trying to RP, even trying to write in an old fashioned way, despite you being non native. Those efforts towards RP are hard to be found in a new player.

Sook: Another new player, that quickly understood the OOC convention... but was not to be seen after the first day. They start with a big rush, and good attitude (otherwise they would have not agreed to the OOC denoting) and I always ask myself if I did not canalize all that willingness correctly.

Suli: A male dwarf, pretty much the same comment as Sook applies. You agreed to my conditions about the weapon thing, and used the parens without problems. You even gave proof of your RP volunteer with some well described bows, or dwarven praise. Then again, only 1 day last.

Venare: I think I recall you being a male ynnwn (or at least you had that model) I think I only meet you one day, too. But you said you were skilled in RP, meaning that you had roleplayed before joining the game. It's always interesting to find this kind of players and see their vision not only about the game, but also about the roleplay itself. I use your name in memory of all those "veteran" roleplayers that join the game, but unfortunately do not find roleplay around them and leave too soon.

Indigrus: I recall our meeting. It was at the entrance of the sewers, you exited it and I saw your name tag. It rang a bell, so I sent you a tell. Apparently, mine also rang one to you but we did not say it. Sometime later we both found out why, here in the forums, you had a signature with the name Indigrus, and that's where I read the name. You were Maiden Indigo here. I recall that, once you found out, you made a post and, at the end of it, you added a "hi Nilrem!" that had nothing to do with the post itself, but that proved you found why the bell rang. You were slightly reluctant to accept getting involved into some rp, because you were shy irl (who isnt? :) ) I had the faith that you could be a great player in this game, Indigrus, and I still think it. I had the chance to recieve an answer to one of my PM from you, once I thought you were gone, but I never saw that alt you had in game. Seems that now you're gone for good, and I don't know why.

Kiirani: The white snowy fenki. I recall our encounter as if it was today, and that is my best memory of you. At the tavern, Kiirani praised about how she climbed the pillars of the laanx dungeon. I went there, and saw it myself. It was nice. I too recall some snow flops falling to the ground, though ;) Now there's a white skin for the fenkis in game, so perhaps someday I'm surprised and I see Kiirani of the Felines Lair around, climbing the unclimbable.

Sanjana: A new player, that I recall freshy. Had a female ynnwn model, can't recall the race of the char. I still feel very sorry for the loss of this char, when I talked to her and explained a bit my vision about how she could play, she answered me that she wanted her char to be a singer. It's hard to find new players that want to be something that original, I did my best to try to tell her how she could roleplay a singer, the use of /me sings "song lyric here" and got really happy when I saw she did that, I always think that a new player might see me as a lunatic, trying to encourage her, for instance that she can indeed play a singer, while everyone passing around has swords weilded. I lead her to the tavern, to see if there was some Rper there, that could help me, and destroy that lunatic image. I had to call Sengus with a tell to see if he could help me, as he was one rper I knew online at that moment, I've to say he came and rped, the only one that did amongst the ones I called for help, but shortly after I left, and I never saw Sanjana again. I think I commited an error of creating an alt shortly after that day, and have that alt with an empty buddy list. Perhaps you joined, Sanjana, and I was indeed there, but blind to see you. I'll just post now the song, in her memorial, a new player that wanted to roleplay, but that I was unable to save:

"In some forgotten land...
there was a small and really really brayave man
he was a stranger
tooo the people
They wouldn't like him
They wouldn't hate him
They would not...even talk to him
But he... needed shelter
He...needed food
But they just wouldn't...listen tooo hiim
That is why he died
That is...how he died"

Shazzana: One potentially great new roleplayer I found thanks to the giving away free weapon for condition thing. Got used to the OOC convention soon, and started to roleplay really fast. I lost your track too soon, though. You still hadn't very defined your char yet, and that's indeed a hard process, but, in the meanwhile, I think you were developing fairly fine. You used the amnesic thing to not dig into your chars past, and I took that as if you were working on it, perhaps you had it planned already, and was just to be discovered by the rest of players. I never could find out that, but may this serve to proof you haven't falled in the amnesia, Shazzana.

Aiselyn: I recall our first encounter. How to forget it! Aiselyn hurted her leg, and I tried Nilrem to help there, trying to apply a bandage, mimeting more or less what was done to him on the shoulder in his past. I recall I put lots of effort in it, and the big misunderstanding that followed that RP. Fortunately it all got solved, and I was happy to see how you accepted to talk and discuss OOC about the issue, with the goal of solving it. That is a sign of a fair player, I honestly don't recall more Rpays with you, but just with that gesture you proved to be a valuable player, may all have that same attitude towards solving misunderstandings.

Sekhemet: Basek, the minstrel of epic proportions. The first bard I ever met in the game (only met 1 more, and I think is gone too, did not even had the time to catch his name, was a male ylian model) I think Sekhemet had a mandolin at her back, and it was a nice surprise to see such an original char (not for the society, there had to be bards indeed, but just few players would dare to be one) and with that only the name got directly to the buddy list. And when you add to Sekhemet the minstrel, an epic groffel pet, then the mixure is almost surrealistic. A very nice char and player to play with.

Evilin: I recall meeting this new player in Hydlaa Plaza. Got some connection issues or something that made her crash every now and then. Fortunately they got solved soon. To my discouraging, I never saw Evilin really roleplaying, but was a nice being, for the way we talked ooc, and I'm sure that would have become a decent player if she had recieved enough encouraging in that sense.

Stenar A male dwarf. A nice guy you were too, Stenar, I recall you were gone for a big period of time, then one day returned, and I think you dissapeared again. I have one scene in mind for Stenar that I doubt I'll forget. How he burned his beard on the fireplace... and how he later applied an alchemist mixure to his beard, once it had grown up after that chapter, to prevent it from burning again. It was such a funny scene, and you played it nicely, and the solution you applied from that time on was very imaginative, and one of the few times I've seen someone use something from an alchemist.

Aldebaria: I only saw this char one day. As Belun. It's always wonderful to find players that are somewhat encouraging, or at least respective with non usual chars. It's that encouraging, and respectfulness what helps create a better community, more variated, more complete.

Azulya: A waiter at Kada Els. Very active, not in the sense of player playing everyday, but as a char, moving up and down, and having a very scheduled timing. It seemed very much like the stressed waiter. It was nice to meet you, and a pitty that nor yours nor Silvens projects succeeded. It's also a collateral pitty for Maanar.

Dahari: A male Ylian, member of the Dark Empire. You had some valid points about roleplay and I recall you wanted to start something related to politics. It's always good to have someone that explores a new area or plane in the roleplay, and goes away from a standard warrior chosing, then again it was only lasting one day or two.

Dylia: I recall the first time I met you. I think it was at the Arena, near those merchant NPC wasn't it? I think that was the place where I tried to ask you about roleplay. You grew up a lot as a roleplayer, Dylia. And you kept being a nice person, trying to spread happyness. Surely there were days when you did that, and weren't the best days of your life, and, just for that, it's a matter of thanking, for thinking about others wellbeing. Fortunately you're not 100% gone, Dylia, and there's still that small chance to, someday, have an ooc talk with you.

Huel: A male dwarf. The classical one, I'd say. Creating a nice tavern ambience with Maanar and enjoying the ales. One of those chars played with grace that creates an environment.

Janie: Female enkidukai. I think the first time I met you was at the library, at the upper floor. You were a great player indeed, had a nice ability to express what was being done and also interesting ooc talks regarging the game itself. I think you're unfortunately gone for too long, I perhaps commited with you the same error I did with Sanjana and weren't aware of your presence when you in fact where online? I think the game needs a solid playerbase formed with players similar to you.

Kaile: Lendari/Telisam. One of the few chars that I haven't met personally, but for the recommendation of a third player. I think it went fairly fine. Gone for too long now as to expect a return. Too little I know about the char, and seems it will end this way, but it seemed that, with the player interesting debates could have been mantained.

Leament: Formerly known as Leafmint. Was a member of Vespers of Laanx, last time I recall talking with some of the VoL it seemed to me that it was assumed you were gone for good. Unfortunate thing. The char was defined, and it seemed that the player had a clear and straight concept about roleplay and also about the game itself, would have been good to not loose you.

Maelgwyn: You aimed to be a great warrior with the game mechanics and you achieved it. You even had won some of the Proglin tournaments that were held. I kept asking when it was going to arrive the moment where you aimed with the same intensity towards rp, and the moment was soon. Was it axe the only thing left to you? I think it was only axe. Unfortunately a new version release that seemed to be very unstable on your system truncated that expectancy, for me, and the rest of the players.

Michancia: Another new player that left too early. This time I had Tangor's help with you, to tell you about the game and its concept. You had to chose attempting to bartend... is that job doomed? seems everyone trying it ends leaving too soon. That was the only time I saw you, being guided by Tangor to Hydlaa, to attempt some RP in the tavern to see if you liked it. Days after Tangor told me you'd to leave too abruptedly, seems that the test was never done.

Myr: The misterious diaboli that played the flute. An interesting char, I think she was also interested in magic... dark way, if I recall correctly. The meetings were too intermitent as to discover something else about this char, and they gradually became more spaced in time. I think it could have been a great char, you, at least, knew how to play it.

Nonene: Amazingly skilled roleplayer with great language domain, and with a wish to extend roleplay around too. Just perfect for this game. I think there were some problems with your computer or something and you stopped playing but it lasts still till today. This game simply cannot afford loosing player such as you, Nonene. Please if you're reading this, try to drop a word.

Ralaya: Another extraordinary roleplayer if only for what the description let imagine. Yes, unfortunately that's how as far my encounter reached. I think I used tell to try to talk with you, and explained how to add buddies to the buddy list. So, seems we both had each other. Unfortunately, since that day you were never to be seen again, and now the char's even deleted. I would have liked to play with you, and learn from you. Same as Nonene and all the rest of names, if you see this and feel like, please drop a word.
