[Guild] Hyldaa's Patrol Squad
« on: July 18, 2006, 08:41:10 pm »
By the way, anyone wanting to join post here, then I'll just go online and invite you. ;)

Have any of you noticed the increased crime rate in our city? Are you a victim? Get back at those scoundrals by joining my squad.

I am at the head of a soon-to-be police squad. I am in need of members who can fight above average, or are very stealthy. If you wish to join, please contact me (Samuelious) in Hyldaa or elsewhere.

The hired fighters are payed well. One particular fenki was payed 10k for a small amount of work. The spies will be payed daily, since it is difficult to track their work.  will require an interview before I hire you. Places I most frequently visit are Harnquist's, the tavern, the dungeons...all around Hlydaa. Please contact me if you are interested.

If you are hired as a patroler, you will patrol through Hyldaa mostly, maybe elsewhere, and if you confront a criminal onthe wanted list, you will be provided with a wanted list, from minor criminals to notorius killers. If you are to confront a criminal on your patrol, you are to offer them a chance to pay the fine, or, if not, offer them to challange you or bring them to a hired judge (which may be me) to face trial to decide their jail time in the dungeons. ;D If they refuse both of those options, their names will be put on the coward list, which will be announced throughout the city.

What do I earn in all this? Not much, it's mostly non-profit for me. I will however collect any payments made from the thieves for their acts, but otherwise my profit will be non-existent.

FORUM (nothing will be visible unless you sign up, but you can't sign up unless you are a member of the squad. You can however sign up as a citizen, although you will not be able to view all of the boards.):

Here

Help me to clean up this city.

What about Rabartus and Jefecra and the guards? :} Where do they come in?
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Well I for one LOVE the idea, but then again I'm here to cut you down. In no way can you actualy uphold the law and junk. Even if you RP it, it'll get dificult when you have to challenge for a duel.

Anyway, please tell me where you're mostly found. Talamir needs to come pwn.  :innocent:

Wait, wait...there's a wanted list. Nevermind, this pwns. I'm for it!

EDIT: Karyuu, is that the dev team after an update? The sig I mean.

I'd love to see (or hear about!) some scenarios that you have handled. Are the "criminals" talked to OOCly to arrange a fun RP episode, in whatever direction, so both parties cooperate? What happens to those who refuse to be "caught by the law", in an OOC sense? I imagine that there will be many such scenarios. Fun, either way!

But "Police of Yliakum" sounds really...vast. Yliakum is absolutely huge - 8 levels! I'd imagine that the Octarchs have their own 'policemen' so to speak, so this may interfere a little. Unless you're just self-proclaimed :} If there's more of a tone of "official police", it may be problematic. Who hires the judge? Who hears trials? Where are they held? There's is a small amount of settings questions that you should take into consideration.

Robinmagus: You know it :P
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Not sure what you meant by the last part, but like I said, people will learn to respect the law and accept the punishment if they know they will be put on the coward list, which is a list of all people who refuse to roleplay and just accept the punishment for their actions.

I see what you mean. Maybe I should renme that to be The Police of Hlydaa, since that's what I meant. I just kind of wanted it to be an opposition to The Thieves of Yliakum. :D

As for scenerios, I myself (my character) did not go out on patrol to hunt down the criminals, that is why I am hiring workers! One of my patrolers who finished her contract hunted down and killed several on the list, and from what I gathered I am guessing it  was in RP mode. That is the way I want to it to be, because it is an RPG, isn't it? I don't think I will arrange scenerios, because then the police and the criminals would always be fighting to decide who should win the match, because there will be money at stake. All encounters will be handled in RP mode, but won't be plannedd out in advance. People may object to the law "hiring" itself, but since Planeshift is still under development, some things have to be done yourself. That's what I intend to do. Mainly though, i just want to have some fun.

Thanks for your interest. 8)

Awesome :] Do you have any sort of ranking system in the works?
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

By whom, specifically? That's a ridiculous thing to say, and there is certainly no such "rule". If someone slipped that to Gag in the past, it was a grave error that should not be repeated.

Janner, how can you not use a city? :ban:

Karyuu, I was planning on some sort of ranking system. Maybe something like:

1. Veteren Officer
2. Hardened Officer
3. Officer
4. Undisciplined Officer
5. New Recruit
6. noob (just kidding :D )

Gag was told he could not use  Hlydaa.

As a character name. Half a year ago. When I wanted to create a newspaper guy, I was not allowed to call him "Hydlaa Courier". It would have required a guild - in a guild name, titles from the settings are possible, but not in a character's name.
