cannot enter Bronze doors

Hi,
when the client try to load the maps for bronze doors my client crashes. After next starting my character cannot log in, because the client cannot start. Only by petiton I can be moved back to Hydlaa. Last updates didnt solve the problem.

Exact same thing happened to me. Karyuu was kind enough to move me back to Hydlaa. For reference here is the thread about that: http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=24609.0 Apparently there is no sequence plugin for the mac client for that region at the moment, so until 3.017 comes out, I don't reckon any of us can get there.

Mac users, don't go into the region three away from Hydlaa out the west gate (the one by the massive tower), you will get stuck.

If there is any way to have an update with the plugin before the next client, that would be great, but I doubt it will happen. In any case, dfryer, thanks again for all the hard work you do so that the mac client is programmed for us.

Erm...Dfryer and I have both visited the bronze doors... my client was downloaded from the updater; it worked fine. Hrmm... I believe the issue has to do with being where the bronze doors are now before the updater (when it was akkaio). If the problem persists, I suggest updating again and/or doing a complete reinstall.

I can only recommend to reinstall/reupdate from scratch. I't solved so many problems on my side. Means, remove the Planeshift Folder, and copy it again from the .dmg ( if you still have it, otherwise redownload from BT), and then run the updater.

I hate to bump, but it's better than starting a new thread.

I'v ran the updater.app, and the java updater, as well as reinstalling (tired a mirror, and the torrent.) Is the the updater just not grabbing everything?

Try reinstalling with the Java installer. If that doesn't help, give me your character name and I'll port you out. ;)

I spent a loong time running around the Bronze Doors area with my Mac client. Everything worked as well as any other region, with a couple of exceptions:

1) If I face the waterfall and Eagle's Head, even through a cliff such as if I am down by the crossroads, the client slows to a jittery crawl. I just figured something about the complexity of that area of the region. So this is problematic because it is how you are facing when when you load into the area. Also, one has no idea of the SCALE when you first load into the BD, so it is hard to grasp what should be happening.

2) The mountain to the right of the entrance or the cliffs or something creates a huge black shadow that covers the area in front of the entrance for quite a way, this could make you think you had missed an update when combined with the stuttering. It was very hard to initially run a aways forward, but when I turned left and started exploring everything went fine. But it would stutter if I turned within a couple of degrees of the Eagle's Head. I dealt with this by facing away when I could, and walking looking pretty much straight down.

However, I was able to explore everything to the left of the entrance, through the caves and up to the castle and Eagle's Head. I was VERY impressed with how the client handled this area, with the complexity and BEAUTY of it. That is some high-quality modeling, whoever did that. When I got to the point on the cliff that I could see ALL the way back to the entrance, it took my breath away. The SCALE in the BD is awesome, and the way the crystal comes down to the top of the cliffs looks great. By the way: 512 RAM, OS 10.4.6, 1.5 Gig PowerPC G4.

Since it looks like -- after just a quick glance at your crash report -- that the Crystal Space engine is having the crash. Perhaps you could try uninstalling the old Crystal Space and reinstalling. I have not had to do that, but I have seen it listed up here as a potential fix for wierd crashes with the Mac client.

[Apparently the big black shadow I am talking about above can be fixed by doing a relight on the maps, FYI. And thanks for the edit work today, Karyuu]

I've the same problem with my eMac (G4 1 GHz, 512 Mo sdram, ATY RV 200 avec 32 Mo de ram), the world loading screen is freezing at the end of its progression... and nothing for a while... (once I've a pale blue screen, another time I've a dark brown floor, a black area on the right and I forgot if there was sky or anything toxard the left, but I couldn't move or turn on myself...).

The version I use seems to be the last one, because I tried all the things suggested in the forum : updater said that I'll have the last version, all re-install, nothing better...

So if someone could place my character to another place, I should be very grateful... The character is named "Celad Inaurom"...

To all developpers, moderators and so on... You make a GREAT JOB... All my best...
