Hiya! Can you please post your system specs for us, OS included, and mention if you have everything successfully patched and updated?

I would need your system specs please. When we ask for information here for tech support, we really do need it :} A brand new computer may not mean that it's powerful enough for some games, but I'll need details to find out. Things like your processor, RAM, video card, etc.

Perhaps your firewall may be blocking the connection to the update server.

You do need to update the client before you can play, so this is the problem you should address first.

Here's what you do: Right-click on My Computer, hit Properties, and then at the bottom you should see things like your processor and RAM. For example:

Then right-click anywhere on your desktop, hit Properties, got to the Settings tab, and look for your graphics card under Display:

Tell us what all of these say.

Except you don't quite have a graphics card, and that's rather important :P Have you had it work before, Myrthe?

Thanks, roketjack! Looking over the specs though, I'm afraid that may not be enough to play PlaneShift on your laptop... Laptops are notorious for not being as powerful as desktops, and nowhere is this as evident as when it comes to gaming, unless you're going to throw big bucks for a gaming notebook. You have a graphics controller that is integrated into your motherboard instead of a separate graphics card, and this is a big issue for massive 3D games. We can try to see if what Santiago suggested will take you a little further, but I would not expect a pleasant experience. What happens when you try to run the updater?

Kymizer: I use a program called SnagIt, from TechSmith. It's the most comfortable and easiest screen capture application I've ever had the pleasure of using - and it makes me want to go screenshot trigger happy :P
