interesting lag effects
« on: July 26, 2006, 03:22:42 am »
The current lag problem (it's not just me is it?) is resulting in some interesting goings on:  random teleportation to different locations, monsters wandering where they don't usually, and invisible characters.  Also some interesting sights..  Poor trepor!  If you've seen anything noteworthy, post it here!

I don't know what your screenshots look like, but it might be because I set the skin to "default", as opposed to "elves" (which is the default!)
Besides that, it's on Linux and I've tailored things a litte.

To anyone who wonders how to change their GUI skin: click-a-click-a!

Not a problem :) When you install PlaneShift, you have an application that comes with it called PlaneShift Setup. You can access it from your Start Menu:

Once you open the Setup application, the screenshots I have posted in that other thread should help - click on the Skins button, then in that drop-down list where the down arrow is, choose "default". Then click OK in that window, and then OK in the Setup, and you should be all set. Feel free to say if you need further help on any step.

loop loading screens and i have been falling off the world myself getting stuck in there, sometimes i have to typ unstick about 12 times just to get myself out of a rainbow .   then it just pops back to the loading screen and im dead. also loading screens sometimes stay on screen, i can be killing a rat or jumping on a roof and i can sometimes still see my loading screen

Karyuu:  Ewww.... You're using the XP start menu?  Turn Luna off and the horse it rode in on.  :P

I've noticed some strange things as well.  When buying training points, the progress bar seemed to change randomly.  Also when fighting a few rogues, they were taking shots at me from beyond the grave...in fact one had already respawned.  I was still getting practice points in sword 3 minutes after I was done fighting.

And someone saw me running against a wall in the arena.  He sent me a /tell advising to try /unstick.  I didn't know what he was talking about since I was in Ojaveda at the time.   ;D

These kind of issues make for some interesting stories.   :D
