Guild-Specific Items
« on: February 04, 2003, 11:14:21 pm »
I think there should be guild-specific items for members of the official guilds, i.e. a cloak with the guild logo and colors on it. Also, guild masters should have special gear or clothing to signify them as creatures of importance. This doesn\'t necessarily mean they need to have special attributes like extra +STR or something, just a different look. You don\'t need to be decked out in full guild banner and everything, but a cloak or armband with the guild logo on it would be nice. To prevent fakes, it would be nice to make it so that you could only wear the items if you were actually an in-game member of the guild. These items could be purchased at the guild headquarters as well. It would be a nice touch to have rank-specific items, as well; for example, if you were rank 1 you could wear the bracers or the cloak, but wouldn\'t get the epaulets (shoulder thingys) until you were rank 5. Of course, it would likely be tedious work to do all this, but it would be a neat addition to the game to include at least some of the things here.

One more thing that would make the game become more interesting were if every guild had it\'s own special power. Like if a healing-guild had a special healing magic, and a \"dark-magic\" guild had a special offensive magic. \"Martial art\"guilds could have their own moves ad so on...
These powers could only be used if you were a member of the guild.

Both of these ideas are great and would really enhance the game making guild all the more importand and well respected

But the thing is, the devs shouldent make the  items, they should have guild mebers, like blacksmiths(or an aristan that works in the area of the item needes)that are specially hired by the guild to create the items that are needed..

The special; move idea would be awsome, and when you create a guild you would  have to chose the skills and the rank items...ps as you move up in ranks in guild yuo should get better spells and items..

I wanna join an assassin guild

In all it\'s a good idea, and I support it completely. I actually thought about guild cloaks and stuff, but never in the same matter as this. The only problem I see right now is EstafanCortez location ******* me in the head every time I log in.

awsome idea. It would really give guild members a sense of patriotism.

PS: change that location...

The thought of artisans making them went through my mind, but a few questions come up: For one, how could they prevent them from making copies so that members from guild A could wear the logo of guild B? Also, how would they be able to keep people from creating objects with obscene and/or offensive images on them? Perhaps there could be a compromise: Planeshift could create a small downloadable object-design program for guildmasters, and the guildmasters could paint the skin of the object to their preferences. Then, they send it to the Planeshift team for approval, and if approved, they implement the skins into the game. Perhaps this is more farfetched than the admins doing it themselves, perhaps not. Just some thoughts.

The copying of guild imiges needs to be a possibility, but very, very ,very hard to do

It would be awsome if you coppied a guild sign, after speing the time and money to get it off a cloak or higher ranked item, then got all the offical looking items and papers and snuck into ta guild kingdomm and stole something or assassinated a high ranking figure....

Good point....that would make it benificial to have a more personal guild where everyone knows everyone. Then they could tell immediately that it was an intruder, rather than in a larger, more population-concerned guild, where everyone would automatically assume that the person was just another one of the dozens of members until that person started chopping people and things to little bits. :D

more guild specific items

The idea of guild specific items is good but should not be limited to mere tunics and other personal articles. Hopefully the Dev\'s will see fit to provide guild specific housing (halls, buildings, castles etc.). In the event that they do, guild specific items could include member tables (like the round table of K.A.) as well as decorative chairs, tapistries, torches, carpet, statues, fountains and other guild specific furnishings (for that oh so personal touch)....:)

These powers could only be used if you were a member of the guild.

What if you belong to a guild that is not focused all on one type of skill, i.e. a guild held together by an idealology rather that one soely focused on magic. The mercanary guild for instance.
Also, if each guild gets its own power then the devs will need to make a power for each and every of planesift\'s guilds. Instead of releasing these powers to everyone.
A final point, why would you join a guild? Because you are suited to thats guilds aims or because that guild has a 1337 power?

Despite all that, I think it would be a good thing to have, if you could get over all the hurdles

Because it could let you achieve your aims, whereas \"1337 power\" would certainly help...

I mean joining a guild on the basis of weather or not that guild has a cool power, weather or not your aims and the guild\'s aims are the same

I don\'t like this idea... not only because of the reasons that Cyberchu pointed, but also because some guilds wouldn\'t have any special skill (Like KS for example... what would a teaching guild have? a training boost?), also it would make the devs more busy than they are already and it forbiddens a guildless person from doing speciall things...
I think the devs won\'t like it because of the reasons pointed... and because of others...

But the guild items although it\'s not very pratical to the devs (unless they come up with a crazy scheme), it would be great! Capes, chairs, decorations to the guild home, weapons, staffs, etc... with the guild symbol, slogan or something it would be cool. But as I said it seems that it would give lots of work...
