Weapon repair status after log...
« on: July 30, 2006, 12:09:47 am »
I noticed in the past that your weapon repair status would drop after you log out and back in to something in the range of 9.8/50.  This would happen even if your weapons were in perfect shape before you logged out.  Before this was not a problem, now with the single use repair kits we could be easily forced to carry anywhere from 20-25 of these kits.  Repairing 5 points per use you would need 6 per weapon after a log/link death/server restart ect ect ect, that is 12 kits for just one one log out.

Oh yes, they are also not extremely light at 4.0 weight each.

yes suda, its not exactly all clear to me the way the repair system is the way that it is anyway...but  with these kits it is going to hurt us all in alot of ways, mainly the newbie chars, they arent going to have the funds to buy these, the strength to carry them, and also make a profit for better equipment at the same time especialy sence alot of them wont be able to mine gold or anything for a while or even find out how and where to do this..now maybe if the weapons armors and all of these would not go from 50 down to 0.0 in what seem to be the matter of 10 mins it wouldnt be so much of a problem........maybe its just more simple for the dev team to do things this way, or they just overlooked a few things.  repair is a time consuming task of its own, and the repair kits are just adding to it....it is going to almost be cheaper and less of a problem to just kill something and take its weapon and drop the one you was using befor.

then again maybe this was what the DEvs are wanting concidering the fact everything you do takes about 30 mins at the very least ( even ranking up a skill 1 point )  it could be possible they dont want people to get to a dead end befor the game is 100% so they are slowing things down a bit more then how they work in other games and making them slightly more complicated

now im not 100% of how the repair kits and all of that work..im just making an observation from the things i have overheard and read in-game and on the forum and a very small bit of experience   so if what im saying dont make any sense or its just flat out wrong  please correct me and explain to me all of what i was mis informed about

They need to do more than fix the bug... when you buy weapons from the smith they are already -80% on their effectiveness.  It is almost better to level Melee and go weaponless.  The weapons have to be repaired way too often too.  I have to carry an extra set of swords just in case.  I mean seriously... why does a sword last less than 20 minutes of battle, and take almost 10 minutes to repair?  That is kinda retarded.  I have level 7 repair skill and it takes 66 seconds to repair a short sword for between 4-7 quality points.  My idea of what would make sense.  Perhaps make the sword work off melee skill when it starts to become heavily damaged, or maybe penalize the sword skill instead of its damage output.  At level 0 sword skill i was hitting with 5-7 damage.  Why would i hit with 0 at level 17 Sword skill with a sword with slash of 3?  I could hit harder with a spoon!  I was hitting with 0 DMG with a Sharp Short Sword that was at 0/50 (Sword Skill 17 STR 102).  I unequipped and was hitting the mob with 1-3 DMG bare handed(Melee skill 3).  It does not make sense to be able to hit harder bare handed than when a broken sword is equipped.  Anything in your hands at all should make you hit harder than nothing.  Next would be the rate at which the weapon is loosing its quality... I like the feature since it does make sense that a weapon should loose its shine as it is used, but it should not loose its shine just as fast as you can fix it.  20 minutes might be a little too short for loosing its quality (I am thinking 45 min to an hour is a better time frame, but it could even be longer, especially if the depreciation of damage stays on the same system the time frame should be several hours at least)... but 10 minutes to restore it to new is entirely way too freakin long to fix it!  especially since it costs almost 400 trias and 10 minutes to repair it from 0 to full at level 7 repair.  I appologise if it sounds like I am venting, but that is because I am.  I think this was a retarded change to the weapon system of the game.  And if there was better intentions... this change was way too buggy and extreamly premature.  Flame away if you choose - my goal was to get my point/ideas across to those who can make changes to fix this.  I really do not care if some of you disagree with my bold and blunt oppinions.

Developers tend to focus on just getting things implemented for now. In the future they will focus more on making the game balanced and fun to play. But right now that is not the priority.

Also, consider paragraphs, ManaianJo. :flowers: I found your post difficult to follow, and thus understand...

It was not hard to follow, the way it is now, i mean the speed at witch weapons get broken (i used daggers) is so fast... f.e. I am not able to learn the skill to repair my weapon, cause i cant get the pps because i cant kill so many monsters. At the moment i would get much more pp from mining than from fighting.

And i cant ask others to repair my weapons (would be good for the game) cause i would need this person nearly all the time.

for me it looks like im forced to learn sword or mele cause there i can repair my weapon alone (or try to become a mage)

All i ask is to decrease the speed item get broken by the factor 100 (you heard right 100!!)

Another thing you could do would be to leave the game on all the time and hope it doesn't crash.

Anyway, we're currently invincible anyway so it doesn't matter how much damage you do.
