Exception Access Violation
« on: August 05, 2006, 05:06:40 am »
Operating System:  Windows XP
Processor:  AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+
Graphics Card:  Geforce 7600 GS
System Memory:  1 GB
Video Memory:  ???

I just downloaded the game as i had done with the previous update.  I get the EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 01245C3C.  I tried deleting the camera file, and that did not work.  The updater only messes up when I try it.  Rebooting doesn't help.  I did not have this problem downloading the game before the update happened.  Please help me.  Thanks.

Last time there was a sticky that said what to do when you get an exception access violation.  I could not find that.  Sorry if this has already been covered.

Did you make sure to install the patch?
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Is the patch the zipped file that will update your client?
???

This is all really confusing for me, sorry.

No, I'm sorry for not explaining further :} There is a separate patch.zip that you need to download and extract into your PS folder, overwriting some older files. If you've taken care of this already and then ran the updater and you were able to play the game before this access violation, everything should be okay.

If the updater is giving you trouble, then it's likely that you haven't patched completely.. Can you try again? Make sure that you don't have any PlaneShift processes running (reboot), then open patch.zip and put all of those files into your main PlaneShift folder, clicking yes to overwrite.
