Server Failed?
« on: August 08, 2006, 11:55:39 pm »
Verry nice game, has lots of potential, but do you, the gamers around the word, think that you would be interested in playing this game or telling all your friends or even consider supporting this game with donations if the developers cannot SEEM to make the server stable?

Server fails every two mins, sometimes it stays on for like hours yes but too frequently we are cut-off. Maybe its not the developers fault.

It would be great if we could get some information about why this is hapening. I'm sure many will be less fustrated when they know why the server fails so many times.

Walking around near the gold mine and Harnquist, i have heard many saying, "Does this game have a timer for when it kicks off the players?", "This is realy annoying! I don't think i will continue playing this game if these drop offs keep up."

Please other gamers, add your views here. Show that you love Plane Shilft and are willing to express your comments to make it better, and of course if u can donate something to help in the continued advancement of Plane Shift.

Well you probably already know this is Pre-Alpha. There's a lot of server crashes, server fixes, all that stuff. I suppose once the game is more...stable, they'll make more servers, so if one crashes the others would still be up...I think.

but yes the server does have a timer. it is set to about 12 hours to conform with some obscure law somewhere. but the crashes mean new things are coming soon, note the lack of a (tm). the last round brought in the smithing tools. so just ride it out. somedays are just simply better then others.

hardly because the shadow built the lexx.
the shadow will frighten laanx from my path.

It's particularly unstable the last few days. This isn't that normal to be crashing once every 5-10 min. We're fixing bugs as we find them, and then updating the server once a day or so with a bunch of fixes. It doesn't help that some players like to 'test' crashing bugs multiple times to see if they're still there ;) Some bugs are introduced when we add new features to the server, which we're doing between updates. We may have to take the server offline for a bit if we can't stem the source of crashes... everytime one thing is fixed, something further down the line breaks :D

These people who r 'testing' the crashing bugs can cause the entire server to go down, or is it just there system?

They can cause the server to crash sometimes, depending on the bug.

Stability is definitely not guaranteed with this 0.3 version of PlaneShift.
