Is It Even Downloading?

Ive just started downloading PlaneShift for windows using the bittorrent but the time remaining keeps going up and up. I literally just looked at it and it said 7 days remaining. I started maybe 7 or 8 hours ago downloading it and it just keeps going up. So is it even downloading? Did I do something wrong? I dont know anything about torrent or what the green and red stripes are but if you could, could you tell me why its doing this or if im making any progress.

In the beginning BitTorrent is estimating the time based on how many seeds it may find, and the speed of those seeds. If not too many people are leaving their PS downloads up for people, it may take a very long time.

But we have mirrors, as well. BitTorrent is only one option. If you see that it's going to take you ages, simply use a mirror for your operating system - you can find them on the Downloads page right below the torrent instructions.

Don't forget to read our Install Instructions thread as well, as you will need to download a separate patch afterwards and apply it to your PlaneShift installation.

Wow you replied to that fast. Im impressed, that took a matter of minutes. Anyway, to me its taking ages. But do you think 7 to 8 hours is normal? Or should i check out those mirrors you proposed? Basically what im trying to say is, "Do you consider that long enough to check out the mirrors?"

You had about five billion empty lines at the end of your post. Try to avoid that, even if it was an accident :]

I wouldn't consider 7-8 hours a long time, personally. But I leave downloads going for days sometimes. If keeping your computer on for such a period is a problem, use a mirror. If your machine can handle it though, it's fine. Maybe if it reaches 12 hours, I'd go for a mirror.

depending on what kind of internet connection you have (even though it shouldnt matter once you have the game) it may take longer.

Broadband: 15-30mins
Dial-up (average 5kb): 11hrs

this should be around the times for the mirror downloads, and not the bittorrent

i used a mirror and it downloaded in about 10 minutes

ah, very good news is right! Hehe, I suppose I shouldnt base broadband speeds off of verizon dsl
