Just wanted to say.
« on: August 11, 2006, 04:50:13 am »
Ok guys i just wanted to say.. I just played this game for the first time today and had a realy nice experience. A few things i would like to say tho. I was horrible dissapointed that there are no means of help or even a hint on how to get started playing it. I think this game could go realy realy far, more far than any other free mmorpg game seeing as it has the graphics and gameplay to do it but... There are a fe things that kind of just turned me off from playing it. (1) The running and walking system was realy had to get used to even tho i am realy used to using wasd since i am a mad Cod2 player. (2) The fighting system has more than a few things that make the game look "junkish". (3) Just the fact that when i died i sat and ran around that dongeon looking thing for about an half an hour. Now i know that this game is still a not even a beta or nething but thoes things are what i would be more than glad to see fixed in the futur and also i would like to see this game remain f2p. Seeing as i am only 13 i dont have a job yet, waiting 2 more years. So i realy would hate to have to pay monthly for this awsome game. But all in all this could be an amazing game. You have full suppor from me.

Welcome to PlaneShift! Thank you for sharing your beginning thoughts, and we look forward to seeing more of your feedback on the game and your virtual life within it as we move along.

If I may point something out:

We do have a Player Guide you know :] It is included with your download, and there is a very clear, bold link to it from the main website. Beside that, we have several guides and an FAQ in the Newbie Help section of this forums. So there is plenty of material for beginners to start with, they just have to spend a bit of effort looking around for it.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

And as for the Death Realm, it's supposed to be hard to get out of. A lot harder than that. In fact it will probably never be as hard to get out of in the game as it's supposed to be from the setting, or else the DR will be packed compared to the living world.

The ideal, is that it is up and running 24/7, but this is only the ideal.

With this stage of developement, its pretty commonplace to see that it crashes, restarts, crashes some more, and so on and so on.  All the fun part of developement.  No one can really say when it will be up exactly, the general answer is, the devs try to get it up and running as fast as they can.  Welcome to the community, careful, this place gets addicting.

Hi! Apakz!

Welcome to PlaneShift in general and to Yliakum in particular.

This game is not meant to be played as a solo adventurer pitting your button-pushing skills and lightning reflexes against the game-codes AI. PlaneShift is meant to be an immersive digitally enhanced environment which funtions as a setting for Role-Playing Story-telling. We the Players are acting out the lives of our Characters in Yliakum in a Mediaeval Fantasy background. As though we were created by Chaucer in his Canterbury Tales or by Wm. Shakespeare in his plays.

It is the Developers wish and intentions for all those Players to have their Characters interact in-game, co-operate in-game to achieve results, and to pass knowledge gained through experience, amongst themselves in-game. As PlaneShift is expanded by the Development Team, and more and more content is added, interaction and co-operation, is going to become more and more the only way to advance your character, and to play Planeshift in a satisfying and meaningful way.

Yes, there are Player Guides and other information on the PlaneShift Website and here in the PS Forums, but there will never be a comprehensive Everything Guide such as that available for such games as the Forgotten Realms Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
- running PlaneShift Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.11) Client, on an Apple iMac G5 2GHz PowerPC processor, 2GB DDR SDRAM, an ATI Radeon 9600 graphics card with 128MB VRAM, a 20-inch active-matrix LCD widescreen display, and a 250GB Serial ATA hard drive... so what's your excuse, huh?

no, it's not a story-telling setting. the devs have stated this too. this is role-playing like as in a character like in real life not trying to tell a story.  ::)
