Issues at Oja road
« on: August 11, 2006, 08:59:14 pm »
I can see most of the textures when ever I enter Oja road. There are transparent spots every where, and every thing up close is black. Sometimes, the entire map will become transparent, and I have to kill my self to return to Ojadeva. Last night, I was decided to download CS, and to my supprise, when I load one of demos and did the walk test, I had the exact same problem. I have tried tweeking the settings, but to no avail. I would really like to be able to reach Hydlaa, but with the road the way it is, I doubt I will be able to find the path. Is anyone else having this problem?

System Specs:
Windows XP Home (service pack 2)
Intel Pentium 4 (2.80 Ghz)
256 MB Ram
Intel mother-board based video card (94 MB video Ram)

(PS: I have a 64 MB chip I could add, but I'm not sure if will help).

Unfortunately I think your problem relates to use of an onboard video setup. The fact that you are experiencing same difficulties with CS demo tends to support this. The environment is just too graphically intense for your current setup. Try disabling sound in PS setup and notching back your adaptive distance in Options while in-game.

On-board graphics, as Imshi said, just are not good enough for Planeshift. I would reccommend changing the "Texture Downsampling" in pssetup to 1/16. It will look bad but it may run it better.. If not then you may want to consider upgrading the computer.. New graphics cards are pretty cheap.. Newegg.com

I have had sound off since I started play and changing the Texture Downsampling doesn't help. I do have an extra video card, but it only has 64 MB video RAM and the onboard one has 94 MB. When ever I run the game, the computer has to tap into my virual memory, but only by about 50 MBs. I have an extra RAM chip (only 64 MB) and an extra slot for it, do you think that would help? Would using the other video card make it work better, even though it has 30 less MB?
