I personally think that in the area of instant gratification people have forgotten the whole idea of waiting and patience.

mostly those who flame about \"this game sucks\" or \" I cant do anything\" really dont understand how lucky they really are. How many of us want to be the input for a game before it comes out ? really? if AO or EQ had pre alpha testing, then there wouldn\'t have been the whole, \"I hate this aspect of the game...who the h#ll designed it?!!\"

and for those of us who want to change the future of gaming, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I also find the whole concept novel! play at embryonic stages!! I cant wait to see how our input will assist their choices for what happens in this game!! :D

but anyhoo....

nope, this is just a open project - you get to use it in all stages of its developement, you can follow all its upgrades in person and live 8) ...also PS will never be commercial, so there\'s no need for alpha testers ...this will just keep on evolving (for ever let\'s hope!!!) and you can join in or leave whenever you want (for free, if you haven\'t read the pages)

I\'m amazed they arent going to put this as commercial...if they did I could see it becoming pretty popular with just the right touches to it(of course it needs to be finished first)...but also it seems better off not being commercial because it doesnt seem the type of game you would find in a store...just my opinion though...looks fun to me :)

Ah well if Planeshift really gets going it could give paid MMORPGs a run for their money. This kind of development ensures that such games only get better - Look at how Microsoft is having such a tough time breaking into the server market where stuff like Linux and Apache feature prominently in. Competition is good :D

Very good example, just look at Apache\'s market share: 62.57%. Free doesn\'t mean inferior. Apache proves that if done properly something can be very good, popular and free at the same time. From what I can tell, PS has the looks of being done properly as well.
