I started this sketch thinking i should focus a bit more on proportions and it turned out looking rather diffrent than i planned... Perhaps somewhere in the back of my mind i was thinking about dog anatomy?  ::|

Either way it doesnt matter what you think it might look like because i can tell you now it definately aint that!  :D

Its a Modder; a scruffy unkept beast that has a  great fear of water.

Afraid of water? Rabid canine with unmade fur.

It looks kinda like a dog but somehow the face seperates it and puts it into a more rodent-like animal. 2 protruding front teeth and that'd be the cream ;]

It looks alot like an irish wolfhound

All three of your sketches are very cool. I could definitely see these creatures in Yliakum, that is for sure. Anyway your art has inspired me and makes me want to pick up a pencil and sketch. Thanks! If you draw more please post it, I would love to see what your imagination comes up with next.

Kiraki, your sketches are all very nice but I would like to see you do a "drawing" more than a sketch.  Id like to see you go into a bit more detail, adding shading and contour. You could try it with one of your previous drawings, for instance, the beaver looking creature. That one seems particularly creative and original.

It's been a crazy few days and haven't had much time to sit down and sketch but with a pen and permanent marker one can practise just about anywhere (School bags, labcoats, other people...)

I did manage to do one on paper at least. :D It's a Twako, a rather lazy creature that likes nothing better than to eat all day, but can run at a surprising speed if in danger - although it will only so as a last resort.  It is best not to desturb them while eating as they have a very nasty temperament.

@Gentar:  Drawings take a little more time than sketches and unfortunately i dont have too much time at the moment.  Most of my sketches i do during breaks (And a few during lectures ).  They are usually animals or plants but sometimes something new pops out and those are the ones i post here.

Hi,

Nice work. All the little beasties have unique look on them, but they also have similarities with real animals, preventing them from looking too alien. I'd ask permission to try colour one, if I wasn't so busy and lazy right now. Maybe later. Keep it up Kiraki.

PS. Did I mention that I like your ears... I believe I did. :)

Wow Kiraki! So you draw? ^^ Nice to see you here, and posting your art :)

Well, what can I say... not too much criticism for now, just, keep drawing. Warm your wrist till you feel it is as good as before, and keep posting here the evolution. I'm sure that, once you're comfortable enough with your drawings, and with yourself and your abilities, you'll be able to create really nice drawings (you're just showing great potential now, and seems you aren't completely comfortable with yourself)

I was wondering where you posted, and today after posting a reply in another thread of this "Fan art" section, I scrolled down and saw your name... so here's where you're posting... Keep doing it.  :flowers:

I'll just share with you a link that I like very much, may it serve you for inspiration (not that you've to copy the drawing style) for how to present the creatures. I liked the touch you added to them, not only drawings, but living entities, with habits. Try to describe those living beings with a bit more depth, and try to make your posts where you put the creatures more like a "postal", using the forum abilities to bold or similar. Try with "picture", "description", "habits" used with paragraphs, as if it was a folio a zoologist might have in a book, while he/she travels around Yliakum.

I leave you the link here: http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=8005.0 Check it out, you can only love it.

And may you keep enjoying drawing.

Edit to add: The more detailed description about their habits its not something I say just to say. I for instance, plan to add to my vision of the world some creatures that are in that thread I linked you, and it's easier if they've a "personality" if you manage to develop a bit more the "living" side of your creations, it would be easier for anyone that wishes to do the same as me. :)

I have been trying out some different styles of sketching mostly drawing random things, none of which I have actually got round to finishing yet .  However I did draw a few odd doodles that came out rather cartoon like and I thought them rather cute so I decided to post it :P.

@Nilrem:  Thanks! I will try and be more descriptive in future.  :D

Bhuuka: A rather sturdy creature - at shoulder length about the same height as a dwarf.  They are scavengers but will hunt smaller creatures if an opportunity presents itself.  Being extremely lazy they love to bask in the sun and prefer open plains (Also being too bulky too move comfortably in forests or areas of thicker vegetation).
They are extremely arrogant creatures although not very intelligent.  Mostly solitary in nature they will come together to form small packs during mating seasons but disperse again shortly after.  Although solitary they are not shy by any means.  Being rather curios they will often approach travelers to sniff at them and sometimes even follow them for a short distance.

@ Hather: Hehe natuurlik!  ;)

Dilkrit:  They are aquatic creatures ranging in length from about 1m to 1.5m.  Their main diet consists of fish which they hunt through smell and the detecting of vibrations.  They have very poor eye sight and can easily mistake a hand or foot dangling in the water for a tasty meal.  Being very shy creatures they prefer to hunt at night and are rarely seen.  However they are extremely territorial and will defend themselves with surprising force.
