Creative Writing

I don\'t know if this should actually go in the role play forum or not. Or maybe it should go in the general forum cause part of it is related to PS but then again maybe here is proper cause it is related to other areas as well. Venge, I have faith in your powers to best deal with this post as needed.

Basicly there is two reasons why I am making this post. One reason is that for those of you who might not have seen, I have added a new bit of work to my writings page. With that I have also changed the design of the pages. With the new design, it rendered the old link non functional but it can me remidied by removing the l from html so it reads htm.

Now for the second reason for making this post is that there are some new faces around here that might not have seen the fan fiction work I did for PlaneShift before becoming a developing member. I had writen 6 chapters of my PS character as well as an introduction to a monster I wanted to see in game.

Well that is all I wanted to say for now. Take a look at my writings and tell me what you think.

Later days,

FMiddy

6 pages... good lord... I cant read that, it takes a detailed action packed murder plot to hold me for even that long..., oh well, thats probably why my awesome writing skills will never make it over 1 page... though I did write a murder mystery in english class, I think everyone liked it, and it was a good length,  but I really wish I had the patience to stop and write something other then a post on some forum such as this....
Name: Frankuuu
Race: Dermorian Elf
Chosen Path: Warrior
Alignment: Neutral
Guild: N/A
Location: Yliakum

I fight for my destiny, if yours crosses mine, the only outcome is for me to prevail, whether you live or not depends on if you get in my way...

that url is not a proper one.. where are you linking to it from?
what page is it that you are on that has a link to the scrolls page that doesnt work?
I have looked over all the links but it isnt showin any broken ones, o I am simply missing the one you are on.

I have gone over every single link that I saw that goes to the Scrolls page but not have shown like what you have typed. Are you sure it is a broken link on a page or are you typing that url trying to get to my site? If you are typing that URL then the mistake you are making is the / after the word Scroll. You have it as a \\ and that is why that page is broken. The site is linked to in my sig so that should fix that problem real fast. If you are getting the error from a link from those pages... please show me the URL of the page you are linking from so I can get that little thing fixed.

Th URL you first posted was to the scrolls of kendaro page. what page were you linking to that one from that the link was broken for you? .*EDIT* Found it *EDIT*

The PS related link is fixed now.

Would like to know what you are viewing from cause at no time was Explorer or even Opera would show that as a working link.

As for the victim of word comment. I would hardly say I was a victim of word since my pages are all writing. It is less work for me to write them in word and be able to directly upload them then to have to write in word and then transfer the text into another source and build the page there. I am of no means a web designer so the less work the better and I have to say thout the code may be a bit garbled with all of the header info, the end result is what matters most.

*edit* if you find any more of those links that don\'t show for you, please PM me their locations. Don\'t have to show the code, just the page it is on and the link it was meant to go to. For some reason what ever brouser you are using is the only one that will not read the link as they work in the others like explorer and opera.

Meant no offense by the \'victim  of\' knock.  Was a criticism of Word, not you or your writing. :)  No link with a backslash in it should be considered a valid link.

I viewed the page with Mozilla 5.0, Netscape 7.1, Konqueror, and yes Opera.

There are a few other links with backslashes in them in there, as well.  :)

The backslash is an escape character in HTML - ergo the broken links.

Windows may cleverly interpret a backslash in a link as a forward slash - which may be why they work for you, but won\'t for anyone not running an OS that uses the backslash as a directory seperator.

PS:  The links on the page that link goes to (PS_Related) are also broken due to backslashes. :(

PSS:  Replacing the backslash with a forwardslash did not make the link valid, for some reason.  So I dunno.

I think it is an explorer thing. files are all named in windows with \\ instead of /... for example the file in a folder would read c\\documents\\word\\scrolls\\the_scrolls_of_kendaro.htm

now i went in and changed the hyper link to a / but it reverted back to a \\\\ and i do mean there are two of them. I would have to go in and edit the code manully to get it to work. Maybe that victim comment wasn\'t too far off. It made sure that what was made with it would only be read by other microsoft technology.

Closer!

Now I get all the way to

The_Scrolls_Of_Kendaro.htm

Before links stop working.  Man, what a pain. :(

Maybe you could just post \"Best viewed in Internet Explorer (windows)\" on the front. hehe

Closer! LOL

I think the problem is fixed. I hope....... I noticed it was only in the title pages that this problem accured. So I opened the code in text pad and searched out all \\ and replaced them with /, since word would not do that even though I tried, and all should be well and good now. If you still have any trouble please PM me so we can try to not seem like we are in a chat room with this thread :p

Thanks very much for your help in showing me this little problem and helping me try to resolve it. I apreciate it greatly.
