Pet death
« on: August 16, 2006, 11:47:24 pm »
I'd like to know if/how /pet attack has been implemented... if it hasn't i'd like pets to be killable soon, and whenever they are: retrievable in some area of dr, like have a couple of cages with similar inventory to a furnace, somewhere not on your way out or something to that nature..

Yes, very realistic.  Perhaps you should be able to set your pets pvp (pet vs player) to either confirm, always deny, or ask, similar to your own settings.

I get your point. It would be good for people who rp 'evil' characters. They have a pet that they train to be thier fellow evil doer  :P

Well, I think since the pet sort of has its life energies tied into the summoning ring, perhaps if it is killed in battle it just goes back into the ring and you can't call it out again for a longer period than if it just went back normally.

As an example:

You call out a pet and it can normally only stay summoned for 5 minutes, then it returns to the ring and you must wait another 5 minutes till you can summon it again.

But if it is killed in a battle, then it immediatly returns to the ring and you have to wait 15 minutes before it can be re-summoned.

or another idea is that to re-summon a killed pet then you need to use up a cetain item. For example since diamonds are used to make the ring in the first place, perhaps if a pet is killed then you need to use up one or two diamonds from your inventory to give your pet the power to return. Could make diamond mining a necessary job in Planeshift.

The current pets arent pets in the common sense of this word. They are magical beings bound to the ring which also give them additional powers. Powers which allow them to physically interact with the world around. I'm not even sure if current pets are material like monsters. These pets can't really die as they aren't alive x). If somethink manage to cause damage to the pet, then i suppose it would go back to ring, to recover powers. Or the owner has to take care about this process.

What you can failure tommorow, failure today.

I like this idea. Bring back diamond collecting just like in MB!

I'm very very very amused.. This thread got no replies since it was started in early august--then suddenly the past 2 days, blam...

If pets could be killabe & lootable; perhaps the black market would pay good circles for yulbar hides & groffel toes
