Harnquist: Turn the timer off!
« on: August 20, 2006, 01:45:47 am »
We all know the harnquist situation. In a fact he is nearly never there. We can´t train and we can´t complete our quests.
Atm we can´t buy or sell items. How should we live in Hydlaa? Why doesn´t the developers turn this stupid timer off?
Test this awful "feature" on a other NPC. If there is no harnquist, there is no hydlaa!

Please be patient. Not every developer can work with NPCs and NPC paths.

Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

We waitet so long. This is a very important bug to fix. No one can do anything!
The developers just have to turn this stupid timer off.

And work will be done to improve it. Bugs and inconveniences are a part of every game in development, but they get solved. Keep yourself occupied through other means for now until Harnquist returns.

And he's tested it and found that it doesn't work :P

But really, this has been going on for a while now, and if I remember right this has been brought up before, can't we just do a nice little cut and paste of harni's sleep timer or whatever and use it on one of those npc's that are there for absolutely no reason whatsoever?

And right when I say all this I get made to like another word for a donkey with a server admin trying to bring him back.  Well, keep up the good work I suppose guys

But really, please test on less important npc's for now on

Personally, I don't use Harnquist all that much...

Testing does not include whining and demanding things be changed right now.

Tseting includes reporting of problems ina structured way, and then waiting for them to be fixed or finding the solution to the problem yoursel fand then submitting that solution to the dev team for review in a structured way.  Demanding, change this and that, now, is not helping the problem get fixed.

Obviously, but I can see how a newbie would be a bit annoyed by the fact that the npc which is all but essential to them dissapearing every 10 seconds.  I'm sorry, but the devs don't seem very responsive to structured forms of reporting things, if nobody moaned about this stuff on IRC and the forums I doubt it would ever be fixed.

Want it fixed fast?
Fix it yourself!

I don't know the code behind the timer, but sometimes such things can be pretty nasty to debug, and how are the devs suposed to see if they got the bug if they don't test it?

I know, it's annoying, but the devs are asked to have a thousand things fixed by _yesterday_ as they are important to someone ...
Typing and grammatic errors may be safely ignored, they come without charge ...

No, do not "turn the timer off" on Harnquist. Please take your time and continue to refine the NPC movement routines until there is no problem with Harnquist. I am more interested in the NPC movement, and letting the developer's work so they can get around to adding cooking and other things...

I thought you could still walk to his house and type /sell harnquist and commands like that.
We're not evil. We're simply amazing.

When Harnquist remains invisible, when the sleepingmode is, then you can only Buy and Sell with Harnquist.
Training, Quests and talking can't be done at that moment, because the server can't target Harnquist for you.
Greetings,

Tarel Barilele
