Opening File For Writing...not happening?

So downloaded it, and everything's going nicely. I run the updater, it does some stuff, and exists. Not knowing any better and not getting an error message, I figure it's done what it was supposed to do. So I start the client. I try to log in, and it says I have the wrong updater, run it again. So I run it again. It freezes. Everything I try to do with Planeshift freezes. I uninstall and attempt to reinstall. No good, says it can't open the file for writing: C:/ (etc)/ updater.exe So i download from another mirror, try again...same problem. What's wrong?

Check out our stickied Install Instructions - you haven't mentioned installing the patch, so I presume you skipped this step. Make sure you have no PS processes left running in the background, then apply the patch files and try to update one more time.
