The Thirteenth Order
« on: August 27, 2006, 11:13:58 pm »
Centuries ago when the world was still anew a powerful beast was created.  This creature was formed from the pure chaotic powers of the azure sun, the same power that deformed laanx.  This beast was the crystal itself only evil and living.  The gods themselves tried to stop it but could not for the beast was invincible to their immortal powers.  Only those of mortal birth could destroy the beast but it too was proven impossible.  The mortals were to week and the beast would feed off their souls to get stronger.  Each time a person lost their soul their body froze into solid stone doomed to stay like this until the beast released their soul, something it refused to do.  Even the kran meet this fate of stone encasement.  The beast continued through the world devouring the souls of mortals soon realizing that some of the mortals were beginning to become resistant to its powers.  In the end 13 were still alive after losing their soul.  Each of the 13 were shunned from their homes being called emotionless beings and demons even though they still felt the same feelings as all other mortals.  Soon the 13 meet alone and each filled with anger and hate.  They started to befriend one another and became bound together.  They also each felt an "inner strength" that bound them together, made them stronger, and allowed them to control a power that "followed through them all from the same source but was released in different ways." So they hunted down the beast using their new skills as well as this "inner strength" to defeat him, avenge themselves, and most important free all those trapped in stone by returning their souls.

That's more than just a little "out there". You are changing PlaneShift's story and setting with your guild history - gods, battles, immortal monsters - unless this is all taking place in another world. In which case, how did the 13 get to Yliakum, and Ohm?

So... what happens to the guild now? Now that the evil is evidently gone, where do they go? What keeps them together, a friendship? Is this guild open to the public? Are there any plans?

I agree with Karyuu. This is not a guild. This is a story written with total disregard to the PS setting.

Besides that, I think you have no concept of "soul". According to you, a person can live and feel without a soul. What is a soul then? A person cannot live without a soul. Even in fantasy soulless beings become something akin to zombies.

ok sorry for not completely explaining
most of your confusion is because there is part of the story that is missing this is only half
1st i will answer your questions

yes this all does take place on a different world with different gods.
the beast though was made from the azure sun before anyone lived on yliakum
there was no one there so it found a way to the world the story takes place on

also the reason the order exist now is because of what the original 13 found out
when they killed the beast they only destroyed is physical form but its soul still existed
so it could regain physical from it went back to Yliakum where the crystal could repair its wounds
also because people strated to live on yliakum it could feed on their souls and get stronger when ready

as for the concept of soul it is different from their world
because our gods did not influence them they also had a different religion
in their religion "soul" had 2 main functions
one was life and the other was emotion
it was belived when you die that your soul would leave into another giving them life
this was a form of reincarnation
the beast used "souls" as a source of power when the people turned into stone it was actually an after affect of the magic placed on ones soul for the beast to asborb it
because religion said the soul gave you life and emotion and the 13 had no soul they were thought to be without either of its funtions which was why they became outcast
when the 13 brought down the beast the religion fell after seeing its theorys proven wrong

the reason the 13 could tell the beast still had its soul was because unlike others who lost their souls they never had their curse broken and their souls returned
their souls were indefinately apart of the beast and in a way the beast was and them were one just like the bond they had that made them feel one and the same
they could sense the beast still alive but did not know where it was
because the idea of reincarnation survived the religions fall it was thought impossible for the 13 to come back in another life and destroy the beast, yet they were not immortal and soon their lives would come to an end
so they used the last of their power and their "soul bond" with the beast to place that power within it with a magic spell
as the beast's soul got stronger the souls of the 13 still bonded together withinside the beast would get stronger until, years before the beast was at full strength, the souls would finally free themselves from the beast placing their magic in the bloodline of another family and each of the 13's souls would watch this family until oneday they would find the right host to take their destiny and fufill it
the only problem is that some still have their power compressed or isolated making the bond wane until they realize their purpose in life as well as point

finally yes this guild is open to the public
the original 13 did not stay by themselves but help create an empire entirely under their guild even though they refused to direct complete control by making a council that had just as much power as each of the 13 except the 1st and leader of the order itself

*edit*

i will be posting the rest of the stoy later but until then you can ask as many questions as you like

Isn't this a movie starring Antonio Banderas? in a PS sort of setting?

If it is, that's making a very large mistake here.

Even if it's not, that story has many elements that are incongruous with the setting, and simply do not work. There is no way that neither Laanx nor Talad nor Vodul would not realize the "beast" upon their discovering of Yliakum and try to do something about it - and there's nothing like that at all in the official history. You're changing the properties of the Azure Sun itsef to "heal wounds" of mysterious demons, along with creating them.

And what "empire" did the 13 create? Where? When? Why does nothing remain of it, neither stones nor stories?

This is a much too grand an idea to work in this game, and I would definitely recommend that you rethink it and go for something simpler and on a less massive scale.

It's totally random. It has nothing whatsoever to do with PS. You're making up gods, religions, worlds, demons, definitions for words, and properties of the Azure Sun. It's really not that hard to come up with a decent guild that's not quite so "out there".

Even if everything else was fine, which it's not, wouldn't it be the The Order of Thirteen, or something like that, rather than The Thirteenth Order? You seem to be emphasizing the thirteenth member of your story for some unexplained reason.

i love your questions and i still have answers
1st i kinda got some ideas from that movie
2nd the beast as i said did not stay in our land and when it came back it was only a soul
it came back after our history was already made after laanx and talad left. so the beast's soul did not come to our world before it was already established as yikuam and all of our history had already happened
also the sun itself did not heal the beast's wounds.  Like the magic we can cast using the sun to heal ourselves the beast also used to heal his own wounds only not nearly as quickly
and technically you can not say i have changed the properties of the azure sun
much of its power is still unknown like the blast from it that deformed laanx
and as i explained it was this same kind of chaotic blast that created the beast not the sun directly
this empire of the 13's was like i said on a different world and so was their story this being the reason that none of its history or knowledge of its story exist

also i have yet to make up a god i said there were gods and according to the history of planeshift if you read it correctly and completely there were other gods besides laanx, talad, and vodul
this was from a sentence in ps history

Other gods, older and more powerful than they, told them about great tasks they would have to perform when their worshippers became ready to follow their directions.

as you can see more than the 3 existed therefore i am still in complete compliance with the ps history
because other gods did exist its perfectly reasonable that they influenced their world in a different way causing a different religion as well as different ways to think of things pertaining to that religion
so for this reason my claims are perfectly reasonable

as for the reason for the name it was just because i used many ideas to make this guild and one of the ideas where i got most of mine used 2 names one was Organization 13 and the 2nd The Thirteenth Order so i used the second from pure whim

you can continue asking questions though i think its important that you completely understand my guild

*edit*

i hope that answers all your questions but if it doenst dont hesitate to ask
also sorry again that i still havent posted the 2nd half of the story

Please avoid double-posting. --Karyuu

I'd have to say that you're guild is "in complete compliance with PS history" in the same way that little, green, mind-reading space aliens with advanced technology that burrowed their way into Yliakum would be. Sure, there's nothing in the setting that says they can't exist, but you've got to admit it's a little far-fetched. You can't just add to the setting because it suits your purpose.

Also, would a little punctuation and capitalization kill you? It'd make your posts so much easier to read.

we now have the same purpose as before
because the beast's soul still exist our job is to locate and slay the soul
we can still sense its soul and we believe it still lives so we must destroy all that is left of it

Sorry about the bad grammar.

I can admit it is an out there idea however as i said i did not go against the ps history.  I am just over creative ;D can't help it and when i decided to make this guild i wanted it to use my full creativity.

Thanks for the grammar improvement.

Wouldn't your creatiity be better applied, and better tested by coming up with a guild that agrees with the setting by being within it, not outside of it?

Thats an interesting concept.  A consious attempt at being original with a preset setting.  Not impossible but definately more challenging.  I'd say take what Phinehas says as a challenge.  Can you be completely original within the confines of a setting already in existance?  You've shown you do indeed have some creativity, now lets see it in action!

Well, I didn't quite mean it to that extent... Still though, it shouldn't be so hard. The fact that the setting is original creates possibilities for original guilds. For instance, a Kran-oriented guild would be original simply because no other games have Krans. Etc. That's taking the easy way out, of course, but you get the idea.

I understand what you mean.
I did stretch my idea out a lot.
:innocent:  ;D Trust me i really couldnt help it.
When i wanted t make a guild it was my 1st try at making one.
I wanted it to be the best it could be and wanted the rp to be intresting and have many possibliities without leaving or making up new parts of the game.  I kinda made up new parts that were more extreme than needed but I didnt think anyone would be intrested in the guild without it.  I guess i over thought a little too much
