Well if you run up to something and one hit it then run off to the next thing ... potayto<==> potahto is still an edible tuber. I run around and make sure I come to a full stop before I start an attack. I am not that fond of the DR. I'd love to fight ulbers more often but it is not practical at the moment so I don't. I don't suppose your characters are any less capable than mine, in fact you probably are better trained with more than one than my main one. Perhaps "need" was too strong a term.

I run up to something and then I hit it until it's dead.  It's very rare that it only takes one hit.  And no, my character is not strong enough to fight ulbernaughts.

This is not a situation of "potayto, potahto".

You don't have to be particularly strong to fight ulbernauts. You do need a fair number of hit points so that if you lag or misjudge position you can take a couple hits but mostly you just need to have timing, good weapons, a moderate amount of skill with the weapons and enough perserverence to finish the fight. It is also helpful to have potions available of course. Ulbernauts are slow and stupid. With a little luck you can kill them without getting hit once. Again it has been a long time since I have fought them regularly, they may have changed but I don't think so.

I never said hit and run, you did. I said running attack. It is the running attack, as we all know, that produces the glitch. You don't even have to be moving at the time if a movement packet comes in out of sequence due to lag. I have certainly had that happen ... come to a full stop start an attack and trip into oblivion.

I remembered Shal as being very proficient with daggers and assumed he had two of the best by now.  Perhaps I remembered and figured wrong.

Certainly falling off the world is annoying but it is just temporary.

I don't need a lecture from you on how to kill things in game, nor do I care to list for you what sits in my inventory.

If you must rely on potions and hit and run attacks, then it is my opinion that you are not strong enough to fight your target.  At one point, the position of the devs was that hit and run attacks are OOC and illegal because they exploit the game mechanics.  They have since stopped advocating this position because it would be very difficult to stop such behaviour given how widely accepted it is by the players.  Drinking multiple potions while also running and hitting your oponent is also frowned upon as an OOC behaviour.
