No one need be threatened. Just because someone has the name dragon in their title dose not make them one.

but i have dragon blood in me....from the ages past....that noone remembers, and we are now starting to find our past...

hmm the use of the word dragon has been quite the issue with PS.

Really, ..., I strongly think that even at this state the PS setting is big enough for guilds to base on it, instead of randomly pulling stuff from other settings.

Edit: Yes. I do like to be an ass if it comes down to guilds. Ask Petilence about that.

Problem is ofcourse that there ISN'T enough known about PS civilization to really make a guild based on the setting. The setting only tells you very vague what the world looks like and that there are two gods who are having a disagreement but you don't know how they represent themselves to the mere mortals and a short mention of some areas outside Yliakum.

Ofcourse the racedesriptions tell a little bit more, but just think of it this way.

Our world is round. There are several gods who might or might not interfere and several tribes who differ in appearance. know how to play a viking yet? Know how to play an egyptian yet? Know how to play an Aztec yet?

And yeah he can be a pain lol ;)

hehe wasn't talking about the GMs ;)

After 1,5 years it would be strange to force a namechange now. You never know ofcourse but doubtfull.

Was wondering if these ratters would be hunting the Council becuase there aren't any other dragons ingame ;)

If the dragons they are hunting are more like demons I do wonder why one would chose to use Dragon, but for the GMs to decide if such a name is acceptable with such a stoy I guess.

No story has been posted so far - no explanation either beyond the guild's purpose and a short clip of the sort of 'behaviours' they are sniffing. We'd really need more information.

It'd be better for everyone if they named these creatures they hunt something other than 'dragons'. Why not wild megaras? or black pterosaurs?

Quote
Pterosaurs

The Pterosaurs are reptiles with organs adapted to flight, such as their membranous wings and long tails, which they use as a rudder. The Pterosaurs' dimensions vary from three to six meters, not including their tails, and their wingspan is directly proportionate to their bodies. From the moment they are born, Pterosaurs begin training to carry a person sitting in a saddle buckled between the animal's shoulder blades. Pterosaurs must be at least three years old and fully trained before they can actually carry a person, which makes them precious, coveted, and very expensive to keep. Only extremely wealthy people can afford these lizards, but no matter how wealthy a family is they may only legally own a single Pterosaur. The law forbids owning more than one of these animals in order to avoid dangerously crowding the limited air space.

Megaras

The second flying animal is the Megaras, which is similar to a giant bat. Scientists believe the Crystal has genetically mutated the Megaras, since they reproduce only in Yliakum. These bat-like creatures are not as docile as the Pterosaurs, but they are stronger and more efficient, making them perfect to carry heavy but not too delicate loads, such as food and building materials. As with the Pterosaurs, each mercantile society is allowed to own only one Megaras.

They are both flying creatures we can't see IG yet and they come from the settings (you can actually pick one ). Why not work with them? There could be rumors of a certain species from other levels of the stalactite that are what you describe as dragons... maybe evidence of frozen creatures somewhere ready to wake up and play Godzilla? Your idea could fit well if you just made a little compromise, which by the way, isn't that big of a deal.

Aaand... I hope you didn't go "whaaa??? stalactite??? wtf???" If so, please read the settings :whistling:.

You are who you eat  ;)

I cannot really agree with you about the fact that the current avaible setting is not developed enough to build a guild around it, but if it would come down to me guilds would be pure trade factions, instead of idealism-driven movements, so I guess I better stfu now.

I agree with what everyone else has said about dragons. Basically all I have to say is, if you really insist on starting a guild, try to start one that isn't directly opposing the setting.

Hi Cyl, long time no see.

Pterosaurs Are a great substitute for Dragons.
There is no set model for them right now ( as far as I can find), but there are ideas foating around.

So with a little imagination, this would be a perfect substitute 

Then you get a bunch of other conflicts, as Pterosaurs are a not at all unusual method of transportation (in the Scheme of Things when you look at the Big Picture). In real life, this would be comparable to a group of people trying to battle/outlaw horses (in say, a kingdom where horses are only for the elite). It just sounds crazy, and there's no way my character for example would take any of it seriously.

Dont you get tired of being right :P

Ok what about... Now dont jump on me to hard for this, but....
As Zhai mentioned a "Black Pterosaurs" ?  They could have been touched by Laanx, giving them more intelligence and an evil disposition.
They could be larger than the normal Pterosaurs, with larger teeth and a ........ you get the idea
