Very New Update

I tried updating three different instances of the client, and a fresh install from the torrent download. My update was 9.1 Mbs in about 156 files. After update, the pssetup, updater and psclient all crash immediately after launch. Tried chmod -R 766 and chmod -R 755 on all executables. Tried renaming and then deleting version.dat file. Not updated executables launch normally, all crash instantly after update. Even tried setting the monitor to thousands, just in case but no. Is there something stupid I am missing? Thank you.

i ran the updater as well....psclient just keep crash....
i have tried re-installed the game too....but it still the same

At a wild guess we have to wait for Mac version, hang in there the boys will get to us.

Agreed, Janner. It took two days on the last update for the Mac version, which would have been an excellent response time from a commerical company. The fact that there has been no immediate post from anybody on the team means they are working on it. Have patience and faith, we will be in soon enough...

I have come across something very curious, a way to run the new version of planeshift (although, it is kinda annoying to run it this way)
First, you need to have Xcode installed (I have only tested this on the newest version)
In /Developer/Applications/Performance Tools, there is a program called Shark. This is what you use to run planeshift.
Open Shark
From the left-hand drop down menu, select Malloc Trace
In the right hand drop down menu, select Launch...
In the window that pops up, select the executable (this will be psclient in whatever directory you put it).
Select OK, now planeshift should run.
You have to do this everytime until the PS team fixes the problem.

The same thing happened to me. Dang, I should have read the topics...

Last time this happened we had to download the whole entire PlaneShift game over again (well, people who didn't back it up did. I backed up the old version last time but not this time). So will we have to do that this time?

@mc.mem.06: I followed your instructions but am seeing the same crash from the psclient.app. Nice work, though. Would have liked to have followed what reasoning led you to try this. I wonder why it is different for me...?

Ah, the malloc trace had not started in Shark the first time I did this. The second time the client did launch and I got to login. It told me that I had the wrong version, even though I ran the updater. So there are still issues. I am going to do a fresh install and try this again. This is very interesting. BTW: You are my god today.

Was able to run the updater with Shark as well. But the client still insists that I am running the wrong version for the server. Something needs to be tweaked, but this should be doable. I think, obviously, you tried Shark just to get more information about the crash condition? Thanks for the practical example of XCode debugging.

The problem is in the vfs.cfg file! If you change all "$@" with "$^" then the client dont crach anymore. But after the update the client is still 0.3.015b.
