Hmm, how about this? When the person is completely dead they try to get out of DR (as usual) but if they stay in there for more than an IRL week (offline time included) then when they do get out of DR, they don't get their body back. Instead they stay in a glowing, transperant form. In this form they can talk and shout, and move. Other players can see them, but monsters can't. They can't do anything in this state other then walk around and talk. You can't even fight. But you can talk to other players. How to get out of this state is simple. A heeler would have to perform a reserection ritual. Once this is complete, you will appear infront of the heeler in your normal state.

It would be better if there was a seperate exit in the death realm that would lead to such an existence.

Hmm, but if you took the oviouse rout to full fledged life, then there would have to be some kind of penalty, otherwise no one would deside to come in the world as a spirit.

Dude, the death realm is going to be huge.  It's going to be really hard to find ANY exit, let alone know which is the right one!

I would think that one would transcend into spirit form upon entering the death realm not when leaving it?

cool, but erm, what with the items you had before you died?
More important flaw: The healer (weird name for someone who play in spiritual stuff btw) just performs a ritual and the spirit gain brand new body? ;P it must appear from nowhere appearently. I hate such solutions. If you mentioned about getting the corpse back, or better, stealing someone else body ;D, I wouldnt complain.
