What fun is it that you are talking about -- Endlessly typing /dig this, /dig that? How are you ever going to find anything that way?
How is that fun? Besides a practiced rockhound ought to be able to spot particular minerals he is well acquainted with if it is right under his nose.
For example if I see a golden glint on the exposed rockface I should probably know enough that it is more likely a source of Iron (fool's gold) as opposed to a source of real gold. I would certainly know enough to examine it more closely.

You sound like an amateur looking for pretty things to put on your mantle not a professional prospector trying to open up new sources of overworked minerals.
