I'm running slackware linux on my Compaq Presario V2000
I downloaded and updated the game fine, but after character creation, when I enter the world it is the most horrendous lag I have ever had...ever.
Now I have an ATI Radeon Xpress 200M with 128MB of Memory (with latest drivers), a 1.8 GHZ Mobile AMD Sempron Processor, and 885 MB of Free RAM (my swap partition is using more RAM than is needed so I can change that if that is the problem, just have been too lazy thus far)

Vertex buffer object is off, Adaptive veiwing is on, and load all maps and keep maps loaded are not selected.

Why am I getting such horrible lag?

I have heard that the server is in Singapore or somewhere remote, that could cause some of it. It's been more laggy than usual for me as well the past few days, so that may also be contributing to your problem.

*walks away in jerky slow-motion, teleporting ahead every now and then*

It has been laggy lately for an unknown reason. Not too many players online and the ping time is around 400-500, but if tells take up to 10 seconds to arrive, something is really wrong.

I have been seeing the lag with /tell and /group messages. Thought perhaps it was my connection throughput, but have seen 10 seconds to update tell, or very close to it...

A little diferent here.
I went all the way from the arena to Harnys, then in a flash i was right back in the arena ???
Wierd but true.

Talk about weird: I was fighting a rogue when all of a sudden I got teleported to mid air, fell of course (gravity still working at 100%) and died. Good thing: didn't fall off the end of the world... just a little higher. ::)

I've had some of these worse lag moments to but with a ping around 500-700  ???
then main thing that annoys me is that now and then, especially yesterday i didnt go much over 600 but when it happend the whole game stalled for... say a sec and then came back, it would be nothing if this happend just now and then but not all the time now that was irritating.

normal ping for me before the .016 update was around 300-500 not any higher.
