RayvenD's Models
« on: September 24, 2006, 01:44:43 pm »
This thread i'm gona post some models i'm working on. This first is a WIP of acreature i've come up with called a "Uniclopsus" - A large carnivorous biped (about 4 times the size of an ulber) this creature roams through the grasslands preying on any creature smaller than itself. It has 2 swelling egg sacs on its back which produce eggs through a thick membrane, when an egg is produced the uniclopsus incubates the egg in its pouch.

Here's the first WIP picture:

That is so cool :D Can you post different views of it?

My only problem is that if that thing is four times the size of an Ulber, there is no way its legs would support it, shaped like that. It looks like they have no bones, and they need a ton of muscle and mass to move such a thing - bipedally especially. The larger something is, the slower it moves and the more balance it needs.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Yeah I know about the muscle mass thing, as I say WIP. There is actually very little muscle definition at this stage this is still basic shapes so expect to see bigger, chunkier thighs (but don't tell her that ;)) I'll post a couple of other views later on tonight as I'm working on it right now. As for stability they have a tail to help with balance, but yeah more support will be added to the legs, ,at the moment i'm just getting all the basic shapes down so i have my net to apply anatomy to.

It's amazing...I'm guessing it's some kind of water creature?

As I said in first post, grassland creature. Imagine a dinosaur covered in fur with scaly skin areas lol.  I was writing the story for my characters (will be posted soon ;)) and whilst picturing the scene I thought it'd be amazing to walk up a hill and when you got to the top there was a couple of these towering beasts in the valley below, I don't know about you but I'd freakin' run back in the opposite direction! I also wanted to create something that an ulber would be scared of. My last inspiration came from the sheapherding thread in the wishlist, I thought that if there was a creature that next to noone could kill on their own, then PL would be out of the question, but imagine the fun of a team of people herding these things near bd road, maybe it's just me but i think that'd be great lol.

It's legs look like paddles. These legs, in current form, really makes wonder how this creature is able to move.
There are few more morphological weirness.
Most people create things not wondering how they really work or live. This what really matter is if the creation is cool :) It would be good to see somethink what is really worked out in the most common spheres of life and these necessary for it to exist.

What you can failure tommorow, failure today.

Latest pic: Added more on the legs and hands

@Nikodemus: Yeah I know the legs look a bit like paddles now lol They'll look alot different when they are finished, i've barely added any of the muscle structure. Don't assume people don;t understand the nature of how things work by looking at a pice of work not even 12 hours in. This will change dramatically before it is finished I assure you, for now enjoy the WIP.

You could prolly make this -exact- creature in Spore. :) That would be surreal. I think one of the first things I'll do in Spore is create a PS menagerie.

Is it going to have eyelids later on, rather than a circular area? Which direction will it blink?

Moogie? When'd you get back...? o.O
