"First times" in PlaneShift

My first time playing PS was on my friend's old Powerbook.  I'd been trying to get CB .03.06 running on my linux box.  I'd been _trying_ to get various versions running for about six months, but not that hard, obviously, or I'd have gotten it sooner.  Anyway IIRC, at the time there was a mac binary but no linux binary.

The Powerbook's screen sucked, and none of the textures were loading proper.  So i was wandering around Hydlaa, it was all dark, and nothing looked right.  Plus, my Character was a  Kran by the name of Lister Ofsmeg.  I even started the Red Dwarf guild.  That lasted um....about 2 minutes before Alden talked to me.  I remember though, he was very patient and polite, explained the naming policy, and made sure I was OK with the name I got.  This kindness despite my overwhelming stupidity made PlaneShift seem very special to me, and I haven't gone for too long without playing since then.

I was introduced to planeshift by my husband Stronith. I entered the game with him and had him show me around. I consider myself lucky as that day I met these people, most of which we great examples of roleplayers. (If you are wondering how I remember since I have played for a year and a half ... I still have my logs from the first day.  )

Kayruu, Demarthl, Necro, Hazel, Sheridan, Kandrek, Acheronista,  Lordbug, Leina, Draklar, Kerena, Sekhmet, Harvey, Agara, Janner, Noxide, Cereja, Thormor, Verrliit, Mane and Kraith.

I did what every newbie does and asked stupid questions, not realising that half these questions I could answer myself. I was taken by planeshift and spent that whole month wired to the computer. My eyes were blood shot and I didn't get much sleep. I spent the first month learning the mechnics of the game and then I got bored. This is when I started with my roleplaying.

Here was my first attempt at roleplay in planeshift.

Zorbels looks on with awe and someday wishes to be just as powerful as the warriors she watches in trepor valley practicing their fighting skills.

Zorbels "Snarls" at the Trepor in front of her and extends her claws. She then pounces and sreams die you foul thing! After the duel with the trepor Zorbels baths herself thinking "what a good fight, that was almost to close for comfort. She decides to drink a healing potion that was a gift from her good friend Necro.

Zorbels thinks about Stronith and misses him wishing he was here to fight along side her.

Zorbels checks out her belly botton and picks the fuzz out, and thinks to herself "I am so bored, what shall I do with myself today?" she then see's an individual that she has been meaning to speak with and strolls over to find out some information.
 
Zorbels: Excuse me good sir. Am I to understand my guild the phoenix it has an alliance with your guild??

Mitaki: Correct

Zorbels: Do you help us when other guild members are not around and do we trade and sell to each other?

Mitaki: Not exactly, this alliance was more of a similar cause alliance, not a friendly one...

Zorbels: May I ask why good sir?

Zorbels: or is that to much to get in to?

Zorbels: I will understand

Mitaki: Our guilds and the League of Avatars all wish to have peace and balance in Yliakum...Well I'm not sure about the Avatars, but thats the reason. We decided to work together to fight the chaos spreading across Yliakum...

Mitaki: For this, we are going to be allied for a short time to help eachother with our goals, until then we are allies, yet I do not wish to get too friendly with other guilds, as each one might have a hidden purpose

Zorbels: I understand and thank you for speaking with me, If I could have my way we would all be one big guild but that is not the way things work I am beinging to see

mitaki: Again thank you for speaking with me and safe travels

Mitaki: You too

Zorbels bows and takes her leave to research her guild and it's workings further

I really wish that MB had a built in logger (yes, ciry/aineko's mods added one but I didn't have those for my first day in MB) so that I could read over the logs of my first day. My -real- first day playing PS was creating 20 characters for atomic blue and falling through the floor with each one.

I see lots of people missing MB... and I agree, some things were better about it. Probably because most of the powerlevelers skipped over it because there was no combat

  I wish I was there at the time. I have heard some awesome stories from alot of the oldbie's and I wish I could have experienced the kind of roleplay fun you all had back in the day.

First times...A long time ago, in MB, I had logged on for the first time. I was excited, happy, and ready to kill stuff. Soon someone informed me that we could only collect rocks. That's where I got into my first fight, over shout, cursing at people and PS...yes, I was the violent type. Until Golmir shut me up

I wasn't much of a toddler, I looked around, investigating my surroundings and got loose on the Hydlaa dungeon

I'm not much of the social type so I rarely talk if not necessary
My first char was with a kran, called Kwartz, or something, not the legend :]

I gathered crystals for a while, got used to MB, then quit a week, maybe 2 weeks later. I still regret it :l
Now i'm doing the best I can to contribute to the community I missed :]

My first time in MB was good.

I was introduced to the game buy my cousin in Real life, Vanderbal. He showed me the mechanics of the game and shomed me the things you could do.

Then I met others such as:

Agara, Karyuu, Axilum, Anadromos, Legi, Lordbug, Demarthl, Golmir (and all of the Defenders of Yilakum, my 2nd guild), of course Vanderbal (and all of the Champions of Yilakum, my 1st guild)

They all made me very welcome in the game, and we had some good times roleplaying and talking for long hours into the night.

And the first time you find the diamond, amazing. You really felt you achieved something

The first thing I noticed in MB was how freakin slow walking around was.  I think I ran around a bit, found a few crystals here and there.  Then I discovered how to get onto the roofs, and that occupied my time for about the next week.

I started playing PS about this time last year when ps was version 0.3.013 (i think or was it .012?). After a few months of not playing EQ2 (only played for 1 month) I wanted to play another MMORGP and I did a few searches on Google and found ps. After about 4 hours downloading I went to install and make my first character. I made my lemur and logged in to this world. As someone that had played MMORPG's before i thought ok lets find a quest as a start. I looked around and asked a few npcs for quests and got no where I logged off and back on a few times and kept trying to get a quest as i thought it would help me to learn more about this game (little did i know how useless quests were in this and hard they are to do). I finally got a quest from Sharven and i was told to find the library to complete this quest. Ok so now i had a job to find this library and off i went asking npcs where the library is. The npcs where not that helpful in telling a noob where the library is. After asking many people another noob helped me find the library and i could then try to work on this quest. I tried to talk to the librarian (trying not to make this a spoiler) and he did not want to talk to me instead he told me he wanted to have me committed. So i decided to try to get a quest from him and that worked so now i had 2 quests to work on. I had no luck with them at this point. I kept trying to get this quest working and had no luck over the next few days. I also had my character renamed for a reason i still dont know today to Illori. I gave up on quests and started to kill rats and then mine gold. After about 2 weeks in ps I had decided to join a guild and I looked up on the forums the different guild that were ingame. I had a lot i wanted to join but as I was not good at RP i knew a lot of them where not for my character, but then i saw Janner's Way and i knew that was the guild for me. I contacted Janner and became a member of his guild.

Ind and I started playing PS back in September of 04... right after our subscription to FF XI ended .. I didnt talk to anyone for months really.  I became a power crystaler soon after which was actually pretty fun for me.  We started a guild that didnt have anything to do with PS (Sentinels of Ragnarok) during a time when you could have more than one leader in a guild(hint hint).  A good memory I have is right after CB came about, I was outside of the magic shop and Taser challenged me to a duel.  I accepted(with a sword in one hand and a pick in the other) and she destroyed me.  Either way it was alot of fun.
