Help Please nothing happens

  Ok downloaded the Planeshift_CBV0.3.016.exe installed the game and checked the box or rather left it checked to update, and nothing happened, so ran updater from start menu nothing happened, so tried the planeshift updater (recover mode) still nothing happens, tried running the planeshift techdemo and you guesed it nothing happens, reinstalled the program about 5 times tried everything i can think of and nothing.

System:

Windows XP sp2 Home Edition
AMD Athlon 64bit 3600+
3 gig ddr mem
256 ddr radeon 9600 pro graphics
516kb broadband connection with approx 65kbs download speed

Does an error message appear? Does the updater just close or sit there and do nothing?

Nothing happens at all well at lest nothing at all i can see, but after a couple hours of nothing happening if i shut my system down it asks me to end task  but it does not say what task. si it appears something has tried to happen.

The windows binaries are meant for 32-bit systems. For a 64-bit system, you will need to build the program from source. Please visit here: http://planeshift.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/planeshift/planeshift/docs/compiling.html and select Windows - MSVC.   dont understand any of that stuff, know enough to build up my own system but totally and uterly lost with anything like that even with the "detailed" walkthrough.

don't think there are a xp home 64bit system if i'm not wrong 64bit is only xp pro

You arnt running in 64bit then so that cant be the issue.
