Spam PMs from user "Dean Kelly" now known as "Long Duc Dong"

It takes around 3 seconds to see that the private message was sent in duplicate or triplicate.  It takes another 3 seconds to delete the messages without reading them and to add the new name to your ignore list.

My advice is to not let it upset you.  Ultimately, it doesn't mean anything.  Is this person sick?  Yes, but that makes him worthy of our pity and not our anger.  The biggest problem is with very young people seeing the messages, but that's an inherent risk to using the internet.

Perhaps this thread should be locked?  If there are any major developements, forum members should contact a moderator, and moderators can update this thread if they feel it to be necessary?

From observations of the user's actions, I'd say its not a bot, just someone with too much free time on their hands, that enjoys playing "practical jokes" on others for kicks.  They feed off of attention, so the more they get it, the more they do it. 

Simply add the new user name to your ignore lists, and let the devs ban as appropriate.  I'll just update the first post with new names to keep everyone informed.  We really don't need to do more than that. Y es, you may find that this is distestable, but there really isn't any good for you getting upset about it as all the appropriate steps are being taken to fix the problem.  If someone would like to hop into IRC and see if either Venge or ACraig is awake, that would be helpful.  Until they get a chance to ban the user's IP, simply delete the unwanted PMs from your inbox and try to go about your normal forum habits.  Thanks.

I also went in and banned the entire ISP of the one bot, and banned Long Duc Dong's nickname since his ISP was ipt.aol.com, which is quite widespread and dynamic.

Thom, i'm afraid he might be watching this thread because he, apparently was the cause to it. If this goes through, he'll send 10 spam posts and wait a week to get to action again. We'll have to figure out a way for him/her to disappear as swiftly as possible.
