Just in the EST daytime it seems
« on: October 07, 2006, 09:35:20 pm »
Man, for some reason, during nites and early mornings I dont have this problem.  It is only during the day time (my daytime) when I deal with some of the RUDEST ppl in the game.  Any other time, players will ask to join you in killing monsters, or taking turns on a reoccurring monster, but 12 times in the 3 hours I played today, I got run out and taken over while trying to kill monsters in an area.

Some ppl were inventive, offering a trade or duel request in the middle of the battle, so you had to click ot off to see what was going on, thus losing your target sometimes; whereas they were conveiently ready to start attacking it for you.  Sometimes, u would be standing there and they would just run up and start spell casting before you could target to attack the monster as it spawned.  Then they would just stay and continue to do it over and over again, not letting anyone but them get a chance.  Or some would just run into the area and race to see how many they could kill before you could and then stay there continuing to kill monsters over and over again till you left the area (some would even follow the leaving players just to be annoying).

Since when did this demo(as it currently is still listed) become so filled with such rude KS'rs.  Sure some ppl do actually try and play fair and take turns, such as did with several players today, but theres only so much a person can take before it becomes enuf.  I've seen way too many really good RPG's go along the wayside because of KS'rs and the lack or uncare of support from other players or gm's.  I would hate to have to take yet another break from this demo after just having come back to it, all because players cant control themselves and learn to stay in areas appropraite to their levels, or learn to take turns and use common courtesy with those already in areas.

Hehe 'git' is such a funny word! (Well actually that is all i wanted to say...  :P Alright - lets stay on topic then.. time for some constructive rambling...)

I think it is either coincidence that it happened during that time or maybe it is the same people.  More than likely it is just a very busy hour and there is not enough spawns for everyone during that time.  Either way, this type of conduct is found everywhere, whether it be real-life or role-play.  Since this is not against the rules there is not much you can expect in the form of support from GMs and such. Just beat them at there own game, why don’t you make sure you get it first instead of them?  If you can’t manage that, well… best find yourself another spawn then.  Or train during the times you have found these people not to be around and do something more creative during the busy hours.

You might want to ask if they will party too although it sounds unlikely from your description.

The problem with camping....is camping. I do not understand how giving a farmboy a sword and some 'theory' is training. In real training situations, you use -practice- swords on dumbies. Then when your trainer thinks you are ready, he lets two students beat on each other, again with practice swords. Eventually, he will let them go at it with real weapons when he knows they know enough NOT to kill each other. Then, if you are considered at a level you will not stab yourself in the foot, you get sent out for some real action against real foes. You do not train IN a combat situation. You train FOR a combat situation. In this, the game fails. It creates the exact situations you are talking about.

You are so much right
Yeah, it is all because all games are only imitating real world behaviours and laws. Especially now when PS is still, erm a demo. In fact it is terrifing, because when you think about it, all the skills which are supposed to play random factor on which two RPers cant argue (planning every aspect of given rolepplaying scene is bad too, and so we have skills, like in pen&paper RPGs - only there you have also GM).... The skills are supposed to help you roleplay, not make people to do absurd things. It is not the skills itself, but rather the way how you learn them. Every game devs try to make system which won't be that long to code and also functional. We want to have few features in different areas, rather than one big, which still isnt perfect.
So in the end, i think it will take really long before people will act more real, because the game mehanics will be done that way, to support only this sort of behaviour.
