I maid this to talk about other MMORPG's besides WoW!


I used to play Runescape...a no donwload MMORPG until i got so board i quite playing for months until i found Planeshift. This game is Much funner adn mroe challenging.

It was so ugly I never finished the tutorial.

I played a lot of T4C over the years but it seems to be dying a slow and wretched death while the new owners wring every last nickel out of it. Vircom who developed it was bought out a few years ago and development pretty much stopped. There were from time to time free servers but doesn't seem to be anymore.

I played Anarchy Online for most of the winter but it has a tiered system whereby you can play the original game for free or pay a subscription and get access to all the expansions. It was kind of interesting -- an SF game but became tedious in the middle levels. Probably much better once you have paid.

I also played Project Entropia another SF game but it was only sort of free. everything cost game money and everything had high maintenance. You can officially buy game money at $10game to $1real.

Well now everything online costs money or you jsut get a few days free trial...i played runescape for years mainly because my friends. i also failed a grade because i constantly played it. it was so addicting...like electronic crack...cinda like cards are paper crack! i quit since i got so board.

Ferentus was a great game until after one month when i couldnt log on after discovering it wasnt actually free, they failed to mention that on the main site

I have to agree with Karyuu, Ryzom owns all those MMO's, especially runescape
It's a strange MMO though, most of the quests and content is created by it's own users. Especially since that new built-in scenario editor was released. You can just add a world, add npc's, add quests and open up your creation to other players.

Rubies of Eventide isn't too bad. It's not a finished game, but it's farther along than PS, and free as well. It lacks RP somewhat, though.

They talked about p2p for a long time, even in the user agreement. You needed to do some reading. =P

But I quit playing it since I found out. It isn't even good enough to be p2p

Does anyone know how good Guild Wars is? I'm planning on getting it, just want to see what everyone else thinks.

Yes...Guild Wars is a very good game...the problem is i spent 50 bucks on the game and only got 15 days of free trial and it costs  per month so i dont play it...But it is a GREAT game.

GuildWars has always been free. They make money primarily through "expansion packs" like the new Factions. For me it's strictly a hack-and-slash game though, so I turn to it whenever I feel like smashing things on a screen. It's a very pretty game, definitely, but the world isn't as unique and rich as Ryzom's (www.ryzom.com). That one requires a monthly fee, but they do have an "endless trial" in the newbie land. It's a very nice way of testing the waters - but it's quite demanding on your system.
