Run Time error

Hi All, ive justed to play the game, and i keep getting a run time error and the game closes it self down. Any Suggestions?

Can you give us your system specs, the version you've installed (0.3.015 and patched, or 0.3.016 straight away) and perhaps try reinstalling?

Hi, Ive got a 1.7ghz Intel Celeron, with 512mb ram and a 128mb geforce Fx graphics card.

I down loaded from the Planeshift web site and did an immediate update like suggested, so i dont know what version of the game i have. It was playing fine, until someone showed me the way out of DR and then just as i was leaving it crashed, and wont let me back in.

Maybe we can try moving your character to another location, to see if that'll help. Is "Anderos" the name of the character you are using?

Also, could you check your processes (CTRL+ALT+DEL --> Processes tab) and kill psclient.exe if it is still running?

hi Yeh, Anderos is my charachter name - ive just uninstalled though like you said, and im attempting a reinstall - i take it my system spec is ok?

Yes, your machine looks good :] I've just moved your character to another map - but what problems are you having with the reinstall? The more details you give us, the more we can help. Playing a guessing game when it comes to technical support doesn't work much.

Have you tried several times? Is this a new download, or are you using the install file you have saved away?

Yeh i have tried several times and if i ignore, i get the same message a bit further down the line with another file etc.

It is the same down loaded file as my earlier installation. Should i try to Download again? I actually downloaded the game while i was at work, on my work PC and saved the file to disk to load on at home, is that a cause of the problem?

If you have the option (and time!) to download it once more onto the machine that the game will be installed on, give it a try. Sorry about all these problems.. :]

i got the game to load in again, but yet again i got the same Run Time Error - it just wont let me play anymore :-(

The last suggestion I have is to see if you have "Load All Maps" checked in your PS Setup. If yes, uncheck and try again. Otherwise I'm unfortunately out of ideas, and you'll have to hang tight for more people to offer theirs :>

I have now had time to search through this forum for other peoples experiences of this exact error, and it appears to have been going on for while now as loads of people have experienced this - and not a variation of this problem, the EXACT same thing.

It would appear the easy solution is to reboot windows. I havent tried this yet as im at work at the moment, however my fears are that because of my attempts to reinstall the game, and when finaly it did re load, i had to ignore some of the files, it still wont work.

There must be a route problem causing this error, as it is happening on so many machines. Are attempts being made to try and fix it?

I have logged onto the game while at work, and it is fine from this PC (at the moment anyway). Fingers crossed for when i get home eh!

well rebooting my pc seems to have helped - the game reloaded and played ok!

Howdy, thought I would add to this thread as i am also getting runtime errors but not all the time. I D/loaded the game 3 days ago , played around 12hrs the 1st day on 2 diff characters, so logged on and off many times nd had no trouble till the little update the next day. This happens some times and not others when I try to exit the game and get the following message.

The first time I simply restarted the client and it wasnt till I tried to open my browser to check something on your web site that I realised my system was on a go slow. Checking the Task Manager I saw 2 x psclient.exe running. I restarted the computer to fix this, the game restarted and ran fine. Since then it has sometimes closed normaly on exit and other times given the error, and not just in one place ingame. Though it seems more likely if my characters been in one spot for a while prior to exiting. Today I exited the game around 8 or 9 times but only had the error 2 or 3 times.

My PC is a P4 2.26GHz with 1meg ram and 128meg NVIDIA GeForce TTi4400, have the latest drivers for vidio and DirectX.

Hopefully this will will be of some help.

P.S. after restarting my computer each time, I have no problem restarting the game or playing the same character.
