I can't see fog/rain at all

As the subject tells.
I know the fog was implemented long time ago, but i can never see it (no, i'm not unlucky ;P).
Also no rain.
amoung aother things i see this:
http://crimsonorder.freepgs.com/things/shot02.jpg (part of akkaido is always dark while the other is light, i can't remember if the light side ever goes dark)
another thing not everybody are experiencing, because i can see on other people screenshots.

Known issues? What can I do about it? is there any chance it will be fixed sooner than 2 years? =\ At some point, waiting, you just need to know some facts.

searching this forum didn't helped me.

weathercontrol is not used in Planeshift yet.
The people who have acces to weathercontrol, are the developers.

so you are basically saying that when i saw fog sreenshot by normal player, he had it from a dev/gm?
there was many cases when people saw fog and i saw no fog at all, and now i'm posting about this. Don't tell me that i wasn't online while there was fog

You are right Nikodemous. I have two systems. One old and one new. I can see the fog and rain wonderfully on the new system I have but cannot at all on my old. I just figured maybe it had something to do with my system or client but now that you mention you have had the same problem, I am begining to wonder.

i havn't eather seen any rain nor fog since the latest updates .015 on and i have a pretty new grafics card, last time i saw it rain was on my older card, and thats about 5-6 years old by now

On Geforce cards, I can see all the effects. I also have an integreted video card (Intel) which doesn't show anything when it comes to weather... maibe rain, but only that. Fog and snow, no.

Lately, I haven't seen the weather system being used in-game. Maybe I was just online at the wrong times. Anyways, if you believe it was running and you couldn't see it, try installing the Cg Toolkit (also known as the nVidia Toolkit) from http://developer.nvidia.com/object/cg-toolkit-14.html. There are later versions, but version 1.4.1 has been tested and known to work for many video cards.  In many cases, this includes ATI-based video cards.  Make sure to use the appropriate file based on your chipset.
In linux, to install the file, place it in the root directory and use the following command, then delete the tar.gz file:
tar -zxvf Cg-1.4.1_x86.tar.gz

I also have a Geforce4 MX440SE 128MB and did see the rain last night... so maybe you don't have latest drivers?

I used to have a GeForce4 MX440SE 64mb card and I had exactly the same as the Dark/Light sections in Akkaio, I recall seeing rain and fog though (I was in NPCRoom and activating it myself xP... did a black foog of thickness somethign or other and could'nt see myself xD)

but after tweaking with it in NPC room i hadnt seen it in the normal sectors, it's not on autogenerate weather as it used to crash the sector, it's definately got to be the card/drivers.

and on that point, autogenerated weatehr would be nice to have back on ^^

Here's a screenshot that I took during Talad's "live" vist to Hydlaa during the CrystalSpace Conference 2006 held in Aachen




It clearly shows both Fog and Rain weather effects were in action over Hydlaa's Plaza at the time!

I can see rain. (I couldn't see it a while ago during Skreit's wedding though, so an update must have improved it.)

er, so i was going to say..
I have installed some time ago the software which Rolenun adviced. I played a bit here and there but no fog. I know someone with permisions has to activate it. But i can't be sure.
So for now all problems persist:
-no for
-no rain
-the docs part off Akkaido is always dark while the other is always light no matter it is night or day.

I don't know. Is there any GM, someone with permissions to activate the fog somehere just for me, for testing? ;) Would be great.

I can see rain, but no fog.

I also, still do not see different hair colors, only jet black hair for everyone.

I'm almost positive this is due to an old graphics card, and im working on changing that.

Game Masters don't have acces to weather-control.
Only a developer can use the weather-control, when they wish to use it.
