With the .3.16 version from the PS downloads page, there shouldn't be any manual patch needed.  Simply install, then run updater to get a few new files and you should be good to go.  I'd suggest you try to unistall the old version, make sure that it removes all files out of the folder you installed it to, make sure you don't have any psclient.exe programs running in memory (if you don't know how to kill these, just reboot your computer before going to the next step), then reinstall with the .3.16 client.  Then run updater a few times to make sure you get everything.  Then try to create a character.

About the graphics issue.  PS uses OpenGL, not DirectX, so while your driver may be fine for all those other games, it may not support OpenGL properly.  I suggest that after you get the game client running properly, and if you are still getting graphics issues, to try updating your graphics drivers.

never had the older version no client or exe was running in backround and i full uninstalled the game 3 times each threw diffrent means, i realize the newer version dident need to be patched but when i did patch it, it allowed me to proceed past the game loading screen. by the way im not talking about in the game im talking about when you click "run planeshift" on the updater, befor it goes to that screen where it loads the login screen theres a flash of a black screen where it is loading the...loading screen... that is where the access violation is occuring when i patched it let me go all the way to date of borth page but then the error pops up again

Try shutting down all non-essential processes, before running the updater and running PS from there.
and definatly update your Drivers.

All great truthes begin as blasphemies- SHAW

If you're installing 0.3.016, do not patch it. I don't understand if you're patching it all the time, or if you're installing and then just running the updater. Can you explain this a bit more to me?
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

lol  dunno what else u need but needless to say i can run much more difficult games than this lol   that was great
i had a problem installing n loading to with xp, but im thinkin its your gforce  or like what was mentioned ur drivers.

uninstall PS again.. do a scan to chek if you have any trojans ( trojans cause alot of proplems with alot .exe tasks you will run ) update all your drivers from the manufacturs websites . install then restart your computer and try to run it from the exe and not from the updater , i have had alot of problems with the updater on xp.
if that dont work then roll back your drivers restart and try the same
hope it works. i still dont understand why you keep trying to update an already patched client  :whistling:
maybe because the way the client reads on the shortcut ?
i get alot of questions about the difrence between PlaneShift - Tech Demo and the full game    people seem to get confused when it comes to PS

Recommended Linux Irc Clients Include: kvirc at http://www.kvirc.net and bitchx at http://www.bitchx.org
Recommended Mac Irc Clients Include: kvirc at http://www.kvirc.net
Useful Integrated/Plugin/Extension/Add-on Irc Clients Include:
Chatzilla for Firefox, Mozilla, and SeaMonkey at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/16/

And of course, the Irc Faq from Planeshift is located here: http://www.planeshift.it/community_irc.htm

Please note, this is not an all-inclusive list of every irc client available and everyone has their own opinions as to which are the best.
