Socius, I'd say that was funny right up until the last scene. The idea of the Kran thinking the menki was talking to him was good, but the joke at the end was... bad.

  Ohh so it wasn't that funny as i thought it was...
But hehe It ain't a joke, it's something like the comic of the dwarf and the menki, at the end I mean... You see the furious enki, but not what happens next, for all you know the enki could offer the dwarf a beer, or knock him down...  I don't know if this clear anything up... 

Oh yeah, and there was a 6 frame limit, So a good-funny-story from my won't fit there, because always when I talk in english I talk for hours to explain what I can say in one line in dutch
Untill you all can read my mind, you will have to settle with my crappy explainations

only 1 set: the grass in front of Harnquist, seen from a dwarven perspective heads of tall races can't be seen. a tree trunk on left side with a dwarf sitting under it. in the backgrount the blacksmith house.
1:
The dwarf sits under a tree drinking beer (cliché) a kran stands in front of him, at the right side, his head can't be seen.

Kran: Hello
Dwarf: Hello kran.
Kran: Do you know how I can craft a weapon?

2:
Same characters, the dialogs filling the middle. the dwarf doesn't drink.
the dwarf makes a long explanation filling the whole picture. His dialogs covered by  the kran's acknowledgements.
Dwarf: Crafting is an artform ...K:I see...You need patience and some knowledge in ...K:Ok... right materials ...K:Of course... temperature is important ...K:Clear... the desired shape ...K:Obvious... Then you will have to ...
up to the bottom of the picture.
3:
Same positions. dwarf drinks again
Kran: Thank you sir.
Dwarf: You're welcome

4:
Dwarf spits the beer with amazed face. The kran is not seen. in the background Harnquist's is filled with smoke and onomatopoeias: BLINK! PAF!! Wooosh!

5:
the kran stands in front of the dwarf
Kran: hmm...Are you interrested in buying a...
Kran: a finely crafted butterknife of rubber zigzag?
Dwarf looks at the reader...saying nothing.

A menki kneels before the statue of Laanx in the plaza in Hydlaa [view is from low over the shoulder of the menki where Laanx statue sits in the center of the frame stoic intimidating.] Menki prays, “Dear Laanx please do not destroy my crops again this year.”
Statue says “…” *
2)
Same Menki kneels outside of the Ojaveda  gate off right his fields and home are clearly burning. Menki cries “why Laanx why?” The sky says “…”

3)
Same menki at the statue “Laanx I thank you for sparing me my good looks, and I know you have a plan. If I have offended you please forgive your humble servant.” Statue says, “…”

4)
[Three small frames focused on the menki kneeling as all his hair falls out in stages]

5)
top half of hairless skinny awkward menki  one of his fangs falling out as he says “alright Laanx I see how you want to play it. I am gonna pray to Talad.” Statue (unseen) says “…”

6)
Bald menki has his back to the Laanx statue and prays toothlessly (a pile of teeth on the ground before him), “Dear Talwad pwease save me fwom Waanx.” Menki reaches hand toward sky. Statue says boomingly [connected speech bubble from statue’s face in bottom right corner of frame eyes glow red.], “Talad cannot hear you fool! I have trapped him in I-r-c!!!”

*this should be disconnected from the statue in each occurrence.

Heh heh heh. Both of those last two were pretty funny if you ask me. Although Hadfael's would probably be funniest for n00bs, etc.

Hopefully this is at least somewhat funny:

Panel 1:
A Klyros stands at the edge of a rocky cliff (no ground shown). Thought bubble: "Like the wind in the skies!"

Panel 2:
The Klyros jumps and starts to glide (still no ground shown, possibly a bird with a "?" over it's head). Thought bubble: "Over water, bushes and trees, like a feather!"

Panel 3:
Klyros lands with a big, satisfied grin at a sea-shore, amongst some as of yet nondescript bystanders of varying races.

Panel 4:
Bystanders' faces show rolling eyes, desparation or anger, speech bubble from outside the panel: "For the last time: you are supposed to practice..."

Panel 5:
View is zoomed out, showing a small rock (off which the Klyros obviously jumped) in a very small sea's shore, with some bystanders on top, an Ynnwn in the lake, and a Nolthrir with an unnerved expression; the Nolthrir is a grown-up, and all others (the Klyros and all other bystanders) are obviously kids. Speech bubble (coming from Nolthrir): "... SYNCHRONIZED DIVING!"

ok then, theres a demorian.

(1) A fenki walks by, it shows her a shiney. The demorian's mouth is wide open.
Demorian: Hello
Fenki: LYK OMG HY! WUT IZ UR NAM? LYK OMG OMG OMG DU U WANNAB FRENDS? LES GU STEDY! OMG OMG OMG!

(2) The demorian looks all confused, then he sees a more beutiful fenki.
Demorian: Uh
The first fenki: LYK OMG R WE LYK BRAKIN UP Y R U LOKIN AT HR R U CHETING ON M OMG LYK I H8 U

(3) The first fenki procieds to the second one
First fenki: LYK OMG U STOL MY BF I H8 U LOK AT ME WILE I TAK 2 U U $@!$ED UGY FNKI I LYK H8 U 4 EVA
Second fenki: Um..... wha....?

(4) This Groffel pops out of nowhere. The first fenki sees it.
Fenki: LYK OMG HI WUTS UR NAM WANAB FRENDS LES GO STEDY LES GET MERIED OMG OMG OMG IM GTIN MARIED LYK OMG OMG OMG
Groffel gets scared and runs away.

(5) The fenki sees a consumer
Fenki: LYK OMG U WANAB FRENDS U R SU CUTEEEEEEEE WANA HANG OUT WANA GU STEDY OMG OMG OMG I LUV U
Cunsumer gets scared and runs awaty, even faster then the groffel.

(6) The fenki sees an ulbernaut

There, I submit mine for the heck of it.  Enjoy this bit of complete randomness.  Let me know if there's a problem with my wordage or setting.

(1) Kran Homeland.  Kran (Gruxun) is standing on top of his own house, while Neighbor Kran is on ground level
Neighbor Kran:  Hey there Gruxun!  In Talad's name, why are you standing on top of your house?
Gruxun:  My Lemur-friend Naily is visiting, and I'm going to share some diamonds with him.  Our homeland doesn't get very many outsiders, so he needs a BIG Kran welcome!

(2)  Close-up of Gruxun's face, beaming, looking off into distance
Neighbor Kran:  Didn't know Lemurs like diamonds
Gruxun:  Of course they do, because diamonds are tasty!  Look, here he comes now!

(3) a wagon made for the affluent.  Stonebreaker is holding reigns.  Naily is riding as passenger, looks comfortable but very annoyed
Stonebreaker:  We have arrived in the Kran Homeland, boss
Naily:  Good, this had better be worth it, for I shall become the most affluent Lemur in Hydlaa.  Dig for all the treasure you want, StoneBreaker, for this Kran will voluntarily GIVE me his diamonds!

(4) Naily and Stonebreaker standing outside of wagon.  Stonebreaker is amazed, Naily looks like he wants to be elsewhere, gets money from purse
Stonebreaker:  I wish I brought my pick-axe...for even the very houses these folk live in are mineable
Naily:  Here, some circles for that long and BORING trip.  Go buy yourself a new one.  Now, for those diamonds--

(5) facing up from underneath Naily, you see smaller Naily looking straight up and bigger Gruxun in cannon-ball fashion closing in on Naily from directly above
Gruxun:  HELLO, NAILY!
Naily:  Wha--AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

(6) Naily is in crater in ground, Gruxun and Stonebreaker are standing outside looking down in crater
Gruxun:  Wow Naily, you look so tired after that journey.  You should come inside and rest on my bedrock
Naily (thought balloon):  Kran are stupid
Stonebreaker:  ...boss?

And imagine, Gruxun insisted in Naily eating diamonds to get better afterwards.

I should be sleeping, yet here's my inspiration. (sketches may eventually come tomorrow or later)

STRIP:

Overall setting: A kran, the wisest Talad priest whose wisdom is exceptional and famous. And a male Ylian. In Hydla streets.

1) The weather is bad and very cloudy. The man was running desperately, when the wise kran, in a very confident way but curious interrupts him so that he's slightly turned.
Kran: "Where are you running at, childe?"

2)The man stopped and is talking to the wise one but very restlessly. Man: "At home, oh wise one! And quickly! Don't you see the weather? It's coming down a rainstorm!"
The Kran is looking up, keeping the confident smile of the one that knows everything.

3)Kran: "You are wrong." -pause- Kran: "No rainstorm is coming down. Infact..." The kran is raving, proud like a teacher to a disciple.
The man is listening, a bit deluded that he was wrong but reassured that there's no hurry. But also keep an eye on the clouds.

4)Kran: "... I am perfectly sure, from my metrics and meteorology degree, that there will be no rainstorm, instead..."

5) It's falling a HUGE quantity of water, expecially on the man, you can hardly see anything.  "... a thunderstorm!" The kran is still very proud, assuming, as he says this, a satisfied pose. The man, now wet, doesn't say a word, because there's none to be said: -_-'
