You never actually play in Planeshift.  You just stand around and improvise a story in the chat, then you write about it on the forum.  There are people who run around doing things like "camping" and "levelling", but if you don't ignore them then you're committing a horrible crime.

Not true.  You see, in real RPing, your imagination is the only limit to who your character is.  So if you want to enter the game as a skilled warrior or mage, then that's who your character is.  Any action which is dependant on skills can find its outcome by dice rolls, /me commands, or by deciding the outcome based on what's convenient to the prewritten RP storyline.

Zanzibar is right You don't have to be high lvld to kick somebodies butt.
I'm playing PS form march this year, with one char... Now he's finaly becomming strong in the sense of lvling. That's because I just hate ti "camp"/lvling or whatever you wanna call it, I only killed somehing when it came in my way, or when I came in it's way 
I think lvling belongs more to the payed RPG (like every month), (most, as always there are exceptions ^^ thank Talad!) peoples there wanna have a superchar because they pay for it  orso... I think I don't get quitte it myself what I'm saying...
What I'm trying to say is: You most certainly can have fun with a 'not so super-high-lvled char' , and just ignore the campers... If you feel like killing (for instance) a Tefusang, but some dude is sitting there all the time killing evrytime the tefusang, Then first just ask it if you can have the next, or else just take the next  (ok if you do that, I'm certain they are going to be like all  , but then again just ignore  and don't go camping yourself there...because then you're as bad as they  )

I couldn't have said it better myself.  The mechanics that Talad and the rest of the dev team have worked so hard on should have no bearing on actually playing the game.

  Very good one Zanzibar, I forgot to say: This game is about RPing and not lvling! that's why it's free, peoples aren't under pressure because they don't spent money on this game (unless you donate, wich is a free choise... )
So I think, to honour the Creators of this  BEAUTIFUL Game, you should RP more then lvling  They created it because they thought there was a reall lack (or is it lag..?  I mean there wasn't enough) of real RP on the internet (duh, everybody can RP in a SP RP )  So c'mon everybody! lay down your weapons and party, or those who don't lay down there weapons fight eachother! (for Rp reasons that is  )

I agree.  Levelling isn't fun.  That's why you should only level up if you're paying for the privilege - nay, duty - to do so.  Bless those brave souls.
